Both you and dwarf died twice, or was different dwarf? Nice fightings tho. For all her bravado, I didn't notice Darkangel doin' much but collecting xp. Ginlon, you look after too many people! Come look after me again :)
Khorak2000-09-13 16:58:38
God damn. I pasted this 2 times!
Relim2000-09-13 17:01:37
*snicker* but it looked so impressive twice!
Unknown2000-09-13 17:05:06
Who was the Dwarf?
Unknown2000-09-13 17:09:37

* W C HP:Awful Mana:Hot *a Dwarf*:Hurt>flee
You flee head over heels.
Centre of the Old Courtyard
*Ginlon the Noldorin Elf* is here, riding the trained horse.
*a Dwarf* is here, riding a mountain mule.
*a Woman* is here, riding the warhorse.
Exits: North South West.

* W C HP:Awful Mana:Hot>--- You fled s --- <- Can anyone explain how ppl do
such handy actions? I really have no idea :(
Unknown2000-09-13 17:37:44
* W C HP:Awful Mana:Hot>--- You fled s ---

Looks like an action that helps avoid pkill to me (by letting you know which direction isn't safe). I also think that the auto-targeting used here is a tad illegal too. Take this for example:

*an Elf* has arrived from the west riding a pony.

* W C HP:Hurt Mana:Hot>Elf captured - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - o O

* W C HP:Hurt Mana:Hot>

ba 1.*Elf*
* W C HP:Hurt Mana:Hot>ba 1.*Elf*

No keystrokes entered to target the elf, but it's now the target. It's hard for those of us who use good old-fashioned telnet to compete with the crap. I'd also like to know how he had the time to type ba 1.*Elf*. After all, there's no editing here (according to the author) and no other keystrokes were applied.

I like the flee modifier..."you flee e" etc. How is that done? No clue on the other stuff. I just assume that everyone cheats, then if someone does not, I am pleasantly surprised. I think you will find that such philsophy will assist you in your rl dealings as well.
Horus2000-09-13 17:42:47
Im Wondering that to

And i allso wanna se Whole log Where i can se more then 2 deaths wanna se all deaths :)

And diams herroic rescue hes braging about :)
Relim2000-09-13 18:03:02
For a young boy, you spout a lot of psycho-babble, Lochy :> Help you rl indeed. Most MUME'rs are beyond help, kiddo.
Vridush2000-09-13 18:12:10
This flee trigger only works if there's only one room to flee to? It surly looks so tho, Couse when there are more rooms to flee to, it only stands ">--- You fled ---" No dirs in that.. And i dont think its an action that sends anything directly to mume and therefor isn't illegal
Lochdale2000-09-13 18:18:53
Never give up hope Relim you crusty old git :). I still believe that mumers can become good and productive members of society.
Relim2000-09-13 18:22:05
Sweet dreams, lad. Face it, some things just ain't gonna happen.
Good luck this evening , btw. See if you can repeat the heroics of the Arse, eh?
Tairach2000-09-13 18:33:34
Seems like he has some mapper program running, which tells him what dir he fled
based on room name.
dresden fan2000-09-13 18:44:40
Dresden approaches *Ginlon the Noldorin Elf*, trying to slash him.

Way to go, slashing orc warriors kick hairy elf ass anytime!
Khorak2000-09-13 19:16:03
Nod Tairach. Indeed using mapper. Actually using room names and exits.

I had to map whole tho, and then it was still MUME 6.
My friends carried on my work. So after 1 year pause, I come back, clueless,
but otherwise OK.

Also :
http://www.mume.net/showlogs.phtml?id=1064&start=0&limit=10
we had already discussion of triggers/actions that do not send commands to mume.
(and mine certainly dont)

to Unknown:
I have F1 key bind to ba $target_nr$target.

I can bind any target to that variable, be it bear or elf. And then I press
from F1-F4 depending what I want to cast on the target.

In this case I noticed that I lost the dwarf target, and then pressed a key to capture first whitie to enter the room.
______________________________________________________________________________

I think that MUME's targeting system made an improvement by letting
people target k *Elf*

But I think it is only a first step.

Here is the idea (from Rites of Passage MUD) posted back in 96-97,

We keep all the elements from current targeting system
and adding kill *evil* and kill *good* targeting options.

I dont have to explain what they do, do I?
(well kill *enemy*) works as well.

Also I would like
you to think before any negative comments on this.

Think what would you like MUME to be? Action-Quake with bad controls
or RPG, where MUD takes care most of unconvenient staff and leaves players with more strategy and RPG.
Zorgmol2000-09-14 12:45:41
I totally agree. Having an action who is setting variables IS NOT ILLEGAL.
Besides, if players who use them wouldnt admit they are, there is no way in hell the management can prove it. To those who are still playing from plain telnet: Go get a client:) Its tons of the out there who are free.
And if you dont bother to spend some hours on learning how to set up your client, you dont deserve the benefit it is to have one.
So.. stop whining. Khorak did nothing illegal. And nods.. we have had this discussion before.
