Whines about fair fights (NO LOG)

It just amazes me about everyone constantly whining about they were over killed blah 
blah etc etc.  Look, lets get one thing straight, this is war isn't it? I dont think that
any army fighting would give up a strategic advantage if they had a choice.  The
whole point of war is to win....plain and simple.  The way mume is today, lets
face it...it doesn't gear to solo players in PK.  Of course there are always exceptions,
but in general, there is always that chance of getting trapped and thus you die horribly.
It's a game, so get over it...why must you people constantly bicker back and forth
about whose being fair and how lame was it to block etc etc or so and so only
uses poison and max eq smiters following.  Its getting pretty old.  Sometimes I don't
think the poster is even griping, but those who make comments turn it into a huge 
flame battle.  Yes, we are all mad when we die, but it happens...its not the end of
the world, er I least I hope its not :>.  Why can't you post a log, have a few comments
about how it might have went better/and or nicely done,  or perhaps even an apology *chuckle* about the overkill and that be the end of it.  I sure this is pointless, but oh well.
Moral to the story is this is WAR, so if you die, that's life, get over it and move on.

The reason I bitch about hugegroups is because I personally like to play either solo or duo for pk. I have been around this game a long fucking time, and it sucks when you get wacked by a group of 10 clueless morons that are just spamming their asses off following a superlinker just because you didnt feel like grouping with 9 other spamming freaks of your same side. You say "yea this is a war, the object is to win". Thats bullshit - its a fucking game, and certain people are ruining it for others by not leaving their hugegroups and marching all over arda wacking everything and everyone they see. I'm not saying that everyone needs to play solo all the time, just that groups need to be toned down a bit. In a real war, i'm sure you would notice if 5000 troops were in the next room before you get wacked with a sword and die. I just think that groups need to be toned down - as in move slower, make more noise, more melee confusion, etc.

I used to walk around arda with 10 trolls at my heels, whacking all in path.
Then they created leadership and trolls couldn't learn it.
It seems that doesn't stop others from still hugegrouping though, poor trolls.

Yo yo yo Kakarot. Look at my point of the game --- i do everything to get a kill :) Only once i felt that it is a overkilling , it was when i was solo around bree fighting 2 pukes and then 6 more pukes arrioved and they grouped up and then was group of 8 pukes after me then i felt the taste of overkill, but they sucked so hard even I got away :). Btw nice point of view Kakarot keep up the good thinking :)

Who the fuck cares? Nothing to do about the overkilling, try to play the game cause its fun sometimes? I might not be the right person to say this at all times, but I try to play fun. I really just finds it pathetic to find 8 roaming orcs using poison against one whitie thats out exping on rabbits. I say: Remove all agg mobs.

kills, freeze kills, the not quite linkless but not really there kills, the XXXX
is here afk and linkless so please don;t kill me kills, the my girlfriend was
getting frisky so I had to drop link kills.......etc.

If you don't like how the rules shape mume as a supergroup pk fest (and I don't)
then bitch(ok comment politely) to the management but don't bitch and flame others that are playing
the game to the full extent that the rules allow. Mume moves in cycles and
certain startegies and tactics (as well as skills, classes and races) come
into and out of favor. Best advice .... relax and enjoy the parts of mume
you can.

Wise words Kakarot! I have never complained and never will complain about overkill, trapping, poisoning, stabbing. If you dont like any of those things, too bad, you can always play something else. Only thing I want to avoid is linklesskill. And, yes I do whine about stupid changes to mume (like not seeing wps - ok, so I do know roughly where I am cause of list, but what about all those huddled masses with less wps? :P)

Actually, poisoning stabbing trapping overkill is kinda what makes mume fun :)
Think how boring it would be if we had only solo slashing warriors running around and trying to kick each other (think mume 1, 2)

Here's me idea for limiting hugegroup: Remove the follow command.
Why should someone be able to follow someone without trying or doing
anything at all? Not very realistic at all. If you want to run around
with 10, go ahead, but it won't be very effective. But groups of 2-3
would still be able to run around at a fairly decent pace.

Wes, mume is a game not war. The purpose of a game is to have fun. Is it fun to die to 10 people when you are one? No. Is it fun to kill one person when you are 10? No. Fun is getting your adrenaline moving and yer hands shaking. Thats not possible when you are part of a group that cant lose. IF you know yer not going to die in advance (ie you have 6000 scrolls rock fragments and 10 followers), how can you have fun? Whats the point even.....

I think the main reason people bitch about it is because it used to NOT be like this. Bottom line, back in the days, people didn't group up in huge lab groups
with 100+ leadership and roam arda unhindered, trapping/blocking/overkilling as they go. And, for some odd reason, some people actually enjoy it. It's beyond my comprehension. Just remove the leadership skill all together, or tone it down some. Of course, it's probably a NO_IDEA since this thread has been brought up countless of times on the god board.
I have to say that the main reason mume was so tasteful back in the days was because no one who played looked for a loophole or a way to exploit something positive and turn it into something negative. These days, it's all about abusing loopholes without anyone catching you so you can race to number one warlord and have NSL bitch at ya ;-) The game, IMHO, has reached it's limit, in terms of playability because of some of the players today. I don't like to mention labs, but it's the main reason there is this problem to begin with. And, to be quite honest, there's no way of supervising it. Sucks...

Yeah Steele. Its beyond my comprehension why people play this game (or any game for that matter) in a way that completely eliminates the possibility of facing a challenge. Doing things the easy way seems to ruin the point of the whole process. I guess that as I grow older I just must be in the minority view.

I never have understood why games publish books with cheat codes. Type 5 letters and you get 1000 gold added to your stockpile, Type 6 and the monster before you is slain, Type a few other letters and you can see how your enemy has his gamepieces arranged.... That's how mume is today. A giant cheat code.

While there is Warlord list and wps, there will be overkilling groups. While
there is element of competition, there will be guys who like to win in any way
(even not so funny). Either stop whine about overpowered groups/poisons/call
lightning/etc - all this is way to warlord list at last!, or remove warlord
list and wps - then all who plays to feed his ego will leave, and others will
have fun fighting 1 vs 1.

In war there is a thing called code of honour. In the old days this was very
mportant, especially for the nobility who often had the highest positions in an
army (officers/knights). Comming from nice noble families, glory and honourability
was highly praised. This can also be seen in the fantasy world, where the good
is allways noble, whereas the evil never cares about such things. In Tolkien the
elves, the men of Rohan and the dunadan have these characteristics. So if you want
to RP, there is nothing wrong with showing mercy to a lone enemy or fighting a
hopless battle agains to many opponents just for the glory of it. Neither is there
anything wrong for a pack of orcs to completly slay a single hobbit. It's all up
to you.

To fight the hugegrouping, remove the ability to group ppl. That'll satisfy those of us who like to pk but hate doing so by trapping with 10000 ppl. Pk is only glorious when it's solo or duo. That way, the clueless get spanked, and the skilled prevail. Of course, even if you remove the ability to group, ppl may still make a horde and travel together in a swarm, so to speak. But if more than 2-4 ppl follow a leader, they should get the full malus of move delay - in other words, remove the effect of leadership on move delay. That would make pk interesting again.
