The only thing I can think of is hardons entered my room at least 1 time earlier as I walked and I didn't notice them sneaking. Otherwise, isn't this a LONG way for them to track without seeing me? It just seems that 6 zones or whatever in total should be enough to be safe. The other day they actually tracked me to n n n from tbad n gate!
Horus2000-09-23 16:30:34
Didnt He know You where in or what
Malak2000-09-23 16:34:06
Hardons are fucking lame now. They occupy nearly EVERY way to get north of lane. Meaning neni, hidden path, old path, and rickety, oer up to junction and bree s gate, all along the lane and rtf too. They now track, whether they hit you or not up into old fornost as well. Had to love the time i was hitting a little man under hiddenrock and two rangers entered with me spamming alot of closes =p Not to mention they track all down gway, and i often see them on rtf. If these rangers are supposed to represent the Dunadan ones from lotr, i was under the impression that there wasn't that many around...
Malak2000-09-23 16:35:48
Another thing i did notice was that they are a little less powerful in combat. But still if i am trying to sneak my way up to old fornost as warrior orc i pass at least 2 sets along the way which is quit shitty because they yell, and put up chase even if they didn't hit me =p
Malak2000-09-23 16:37:30
And if i have not bitched enough about them already...
I find they promote groups more as that is the only way you will be able to kill them. A single orc or 2 orcs run into them, they have to flee, a group of 3-4+ will stay and nuke...
Invader2000-09-23 17:06:32
Well, rangers have been around for several years RL and always been irritating
:( Remember I suicided myself with a stored bolt long ago just to escape another mobdeath. But they changed suiciding too.
Bootyho2000-09-23 18:28:01
Malak: thats not true at all, I have a path designed that avoids all rangers,
or all except the 2 rangers at fornost bottleneck (if river not frozen)
and you want to keep mount.

Yes it is longer than before but it avoids them.

OM: um, no shadow, just get all corpse, and sort as you run, and never never
be w/o draughts, and um, you know you can still hide thor??? Right? can't you?
Oscarmeyer2000-09-23 19:01:34
Hehe: Get all corpse as bn thief on foot = fatal, when corpse is metal (dwarf was smiter) I didn't have time to sort stuff out, and I even forgot to loot gold. I had NO clue hardons would track that far south, or I would have turned off sneak as well. I thought I was entirely safe by the time I hit ford in rtt. I guess next time I spam to eregion if I meet a ranger at fnost.
Oscarmeyer2000-09-23 19:03:58
Also, I do happen to have a single draught, but that is saved for when I am 100% certain to die without it, since they are soooo hard to get as an eregion rat (I live longer because I don't go warrens/noc/etc often) I could have hidden thorough, yes, but I had NO clue they were coming that far south. My concern wasn't that I almost died to them, that would have been more or less my own fault due to mistakes. I am just wondering why they went THAT far south while tracking me, when they hadn't seen me since a zone or two north of morthan.
Dorlak2000-09-23 20:16:46
Hahaha, my good smiter was a dented 2-handed sword.
nushenak2000-09-24 10:11:47
well, ok rangers are alittle to many and to fast but we can live with that BUT!
they shoudl stay on roads and dont go in hiddens and closables etc
but that is just what i think so....
Unknown2000-09-24 12:22:13
Rangers dont track. They have psychic powers not available to us mortals.
Malak2000-09-24 16:11:16
Aye, i know there are ways to avoid them, but i always seem to have bad luck. Ie. When i need to cross the bridge on rtf north of the spirit castle there is ALWAYS a young/hardon there. Or when i cross the Lane that one room to go from Heart of the forest area over to the druid's area =p
jocke2000-09-24 23:26:36
Actually, hiding still works to avoid rangers. I have tried it recently. Just
hide t when you are low on mps, and the rangers will stop in the room not
finding you. Stand still untill you have enough mps to get away. Ofcoures this
doesn't work if a player enters the room.
Oscarmeyer2000-10-01 18:05:41
Well, thanks to Jocke's post *wink* gods "FIXED" rangers so now they search too.
Translation: lag, arachnia, mount death between morthan and neni = mobdeath, or, even worse, you get on some level 5's trophy.
