Klant!
Grishnak2000-10-11 13:26:12
Stormie rocks, why can't more of you people play like him? He dies a lot sure, but I bet he's having a lot of fun. Yeah FUN, remember that concept? I get the feeling most don't nowadays, cos they are so afraid of death.
Keno2000-10-11 13:41:58
Well, afraid of death indeed, because you might loose all of your eq when you die.
Bn mages don't worry about equipment so much, that's why they can play that way.
Warriors and thieves need at least decent eq to be ready for pk...
Ariala2000-10-11 13:58:51
Keno you wrong
die reeq die reeq die reeq
dont make eq so much significance
Stormblast2000-10-11 14:32:32
I didn't even trap, I fled in there, saw Kogan real horny, wanted to get some quakes off before he bashed me too many times, end of story. And then later I died to thief-mage's spells. People, could you tell me one thing please: why is there in the game an option called staff? Isn't it too ridiculous to give pukes such an edge? Ok, bla bla, the pukes need to be stronger, dark races are for experienced players etc. But the thing is that experienced players play pukes too and well, will I be damned but I don't really like to die to thief's bolts. Quakes are nothing, I am fairly sure that a puke with a staff spamming fast bolts can even kill a bn before he gets his 5 quakes off. I've seen the *skill* of a puke with staff SO many times, that frankly said, I am getting... tired? Ok, fuck those puke mages, that think that they are pretty damn good fighters, when they have 1/3 or so faster spells 1/4 or so lower manacost and safe city 1 min of spamming from anywhere on Arda. Maybe I shouldn't really give a fuck, let them rot. I mean normal computer games have this 'novice' level too, where there is almost no mobs and you can waltz through the levels and some ppl get a powertrip from playing like this. But come the fuck on, thieves that can cast any time like mages? There is this 1 piece of eq, that can be put together in half an hour by a puke, that turns the tables.

Well anyway, I'll be gone for a VERY long time now (with all chars), proved my point to myself, was 1 kill away from no1 warlord (and then a groupmate screws up a sure trap hehe :)). Take care, kiddos.
Ariala2000-10-11 14:40:25
Stormy you ............. ehhhhh why the fuck you talk about that you are gone ?
hehe im with staff, nod me, but die faster than you.
come back and fight or mume will be boring place with out those players as you:P
Stormblast2000-10-11 14:48:35
Cause I am pretty fucking bitter.
Relim2000-10-11 14:54:16
Me, I'm just bitterly fucking pretty.
Ariala2000-10-11 15:11:48
*gig* heh *nod* Stormblast *nod* Relim

Lochdale2000-10-11 15:58:45
Thieves with bolt....I thought this went out with Mume 7...but..
Relim2000-10-11 16:23:43
*chuckle* well, since you only joined in Mume 7, I find that comment rather amusing.
It actually worked like this: Mume 4 -> 6, the cost of, say, bolt for thief was 3 or 4 pracs per prac; believe it or not, this made bolting thieves rather unlikely because of the huge amount of prac cost, although bashing thieves were extremely popular (shortly after they introduced bash-dis, they also introduced the fact you couldn't stab a bash target... *snicker*). Chars were also very much determined by class. The idea of MUME 7 is quite the reverse - you can be just about anything you want to be, but if you choose to be a casting thief, as opposed to a pure no-spell thief, then you become a jackofalltrades, master of few (not quite none - this log kinda proves that). Same goes for all 'classes'. Of course, many chars became 'pure' to heighten their 'chosen' class skills, but, as we've seen with quite some warlords, the balance is possible. Whereas we saw bashing thieves in mume 6 (bash cost 2 pracs per), we now see bolting thieves (I had a bolting thief in mume 6. sucks compared). Bashing casters also seem to be coming outta the woodwork - i'd love to hear from one as to how effective this is :>
Glithraril2000-10-11 16:24:15
whine..whine..whine!! That is all most ppl on mume do nowadays...all because you get killed once in a while , what if all ppl you killed would whine as much as you do? A nice break seems just what you need. Win some loose some..you won more times then you lost anyway. You got lucky that time a week ago in MA when johannes wouldn't bash..this time your luck changed. Take a break and come back you are in my opinion maybe the nicest player on mume.. i remember this one time i was playing my legend thief down in eregion and had gf on phone so i just like stood in your room waiting foor you to begin incantations(to leave when you did), but instead you sat down and rested and asked if i was oki =).
Took me a couple of seconds to answer you since i typed with one hand .. but not until you knew i wasn't linkless or badly lagging you started to cast on me =).
Stormblast2000-10-11 16:46:31
And another funny thing is that you are labelled a whiner no matter how much or little you whine, even if you point to some quite weird feature, like that a warrior cannot risk eating bash in open terrain, or a damn thief, that is a better caster than bn mage could ever be! The management (prolly) thought that making staves require a chant solves the problem - I mean even clerics could "hardly" afford the spell. Well the clueful players have found a way to stats that allow it. I am pissed at dying but I usually manage to keep it inside of me. He prolly would have rocked me anyway with pierce (I mean that's what thieves do to bns in closed areas). Well he didn't need to. Bolt did just as well, heh.
Kogan2000-10-11 17:24:16
Damn fucking flee misses :((
Current stats: Str:19 Int:10 Wis:9 Dex:18 Con:19 Wil:14 Per:8

Thought high dex will help to flee???
379/379 hit, 52/63 mana, and 156/156 moves.
Hps suck a bit... next age ... :))
Nerf2000-10-11 18:51:25
Geez, well, Keno missed Grishnak's point completely.....sigh....*scratch crotch*
Porien2000-10-11 18:51:43
You suddenly notice Folko.

heh :))
Fëagil2000-10-11 19:54:35
Well, there's just one thing i can say to protect puke-mages... They really DO cast better than bns that's for sure, but that doesn't mean they're overpowered, imo it means bns are underpowered. As a darky you HARDLY EVER meet a smiter with 170ob in neutralzone who usually just wipes the floor with a pure caster of any kind. I don't even mention the 210+ ob trolls in warrens (170 ob barehanded). To be short: pukes have better casters and darkies have better warriors. But still, it would be right to balance things a bit and make bns stronger (not white-casters weaker).
Stormblast2000-10-11 20:05:53
No wimpass boost pls, just nuke the staves.
Stormblast2000-10-11 20:08:30
(Yeah right!)
Niccolo2000-10-11 20:40:52
*sniff* A pity solo players with balls like Stormblast are soo hard to find nowdays. Ah well hope your not gone forever stormie...

Relim - um dude your memory is a bit off about thief practices. You can multiclass in 7 about = to mume 6 imho. But I hate to tell you either mume 4 or 5 it was multiclass heaven and there were loads of bolting thieves and such around. Back in the day my level 40 elf thief had all the thief skills plus quake store spray bob port and bash. Like 360 hps and 120 mana... Practicing all of that and having similar hps and mana would be impossible in 7. Ahh the good old days when a thief was 66% mage and maxed mage spell damage at level 38.
Brunne2000-10-11 21:42:00
1. cry stormblast, dont leave
2. nod whoever said play the game for fun!
3. can you track at ALL with that int and per combination kogan?
4. again, plz dont leave stormblast. nice to have players with balls to fight
Stormblast2000-10-12 00:44:31
Bleh, who would I be kidding by telling I QUIT?! I'll be back soon enuf, but my breaks are getting longer and longer *stare*.
Ajax2000-10-12 01:32:59
Niccolo was right. Maybe Relim wasn't around for original Var the charming/sleeping/colorspraying thief. Almost all thieves I knew back then had
at least 1 attack spell. Back then thieves sucked so hard you HAD to do stuff
besides thief skills hehe.
Aschit2000-10-12 03:32:17
Re: Relim. Erm, although few thieves used it, in M4 I actually had locate and port pracced, and cspray or something as well. Of course, during M4-M5, thieves had exactly 0% chance to stab, since sense life was 100% protection against stab :P

To Stormblast

1. As mage somehow i can store only 4 quakes.
2. Somehow my quakes (YES even with staff) do about half dam as your pathetic
BN quakes ( 4stored wuakes +1 normal quake to kill thieves in old fnost :P)
3. I agree that without staff pukemages wouldn't be able to stand ground anywhere
just like bn's
4. Please also remember that u bolt average 35 damage on sanced pukethief with
some -40 spellsave :)
5. Well, not really a point, but u still are (one of) the most interesting players
around, Keep Rockin'
nushenak2000-10-12 13:56:37
heck, bn´s are sopose to die plenty =)
Roadkill2000-10-14 01:09:04
Mume is much less multiclass now than it used to be. Clerics and Mages used to
learn very many of each other's spells, thieves used to do whatever as said
above, and once upon a time, warriors hurled fireballs around like they were
so much lint.

That's why I don't understand when people complain about it when someone is
pking solo with a character and uses the abilities OF HIS CLASS ONLY to pk.
Warriors hit, casters cast, thieves sneak/stab/shoot/pierce and so on and so
forth. This is the way things should be imo. Anyone agree?
