Once again, we have reached the end of the Third Age. The War of the Ring has
been fought, the One Ring is destroyed, Sauron is vanquished, and the
Ringbearers have left Middle Earth.

For the fourth time in the history of MUME, the calendar is now back to
year 2850 of the Third Age: Gandalf has just found the key of Erebor in the
dungeons of Dol Guldur, and the events told in The Hobbit can begin anew.

Have fun, and expect another War of the Ring around September 2003.

Some spells (chill touch, earthquake, and dispel evil) used to handle their
saving throw in a somewhat "peculiar" way.

These spells now behave in a way more similar to other incantations.
As a consequence, they should be more effective against low-level opponents,
and less deadly against high-level victims.

Further adjustments might happen in the next few days.

The guildmaster of the Redhorn Caves has realised that due to his carelessness
he has been misusing some of his spellcasting powers. He is now training
himself also to become more attentive in combat. Those that wish to measure
their magic or fighting strength against him may now find him a more worthy
opponent.
