They were 4 chasing me in warrens, and 6 not too long before that at loudwater plains. Very few darkies play anymore. The skilled players like Ginlon, that should be playing on the more challenging darkie side, are not. Game sucks for that reason is all - in my opinion anyway.

I can say this. I have played her for several years and the game has never been this unfun. (hehe, new word I just created) Well, back when I played Vale a lot and pukes could "locate life *orc*", it was nearly as unfun.

Dont want to bash Ginlon as they did charge in and targeted the caster which makes sense. I think the issue here is two-fold. Firstly, it gets a little tough constantly fighting against people who have an implicit advnatage before the first blow is struck. Second, superlinked labs ruin the game and tilt the race war on whatever side they are playing on. Where is the fun in playing that? I have been on mume for 1 year now (to date nearly) and its losing its charm. I dont have the history or the experiance of the others but I am starting to get disillusioned with the game. Moonglum, you are a decent chap and I am glad that I got the opportunity to get to know ya.

Targetting the slow american bn's is the easiest way to 1. Kill someone, 2. Break up a group of trolls and orcs, 3. Make the enemy start fleeing and seperating etc.

Nomad nearly never plays, Diamonium seems to have a break, Nazgum quitted, Othrod nearly never plays and tons of others.

Mostly when I log on there aer like 3 softskins online and 3 uruks, often no bns or 1 or 2 lowbies. I think that is not fun.

All good players are on the puke side now since it is easy to pk with that.

You forget to mention the 4 trolls and 4 troll mobs in caved inn as well.

Moonglum, you got it all wrong.
1. It is NICE if you log on a darkie and see there are very few darkies around.
That means you have more guys to fight. The more orcs (when you play orc),
the more boring the game gets. Same goes for BN. There is nothing worse then
playing a race that is totaly dominating. If so -> switch side. The problem
here is that most orcs for example are so deadly scared of going out without
a well known leader so they either don't play at all when there is no such
player on, or they simply stay inside their home town. OR, in a worse scenario,
they switch to the winning side.
2. I don't see many 1, 1% in your trophy. That means you, yourself adapted the
same tactics as Ginlon. ie not much solo PK. Most of the times we see you
Moonglum, you're hanging out with trolls or waiting in some trap. That is
maybe one of the reasons you have so awfully many deaths. Large groups tend
to draw their attention to large groups. Another reason for your huge amount
of deaths might be not so smart playing. :)
3. This constant and totaly moronic idea about how hard it is to play darkie
(Moonglum -I wouldn't be caught dead pking with a puke) thing really makes me
laugh. It is NOT harder to play BN or orc, you just can't play the same way.
Adapting your playing style to the current race is needed though. You can not
simply fight in the same way with a BN mage as a Dwarf warrior. Those who only
play a limited number of characters might have a problem understanding this
cause they simply lack the knowledge and the experience. I do not die more
often as a BN then i do when playing elf mage. I do not get more kills when
playing whitie then i do when playing darkie. The conclusion is that it is
NOT more challenging to play darkie. Only the narrow minded and stupid think
that it is.
Beef up the power of darkies?! Bah! Get a clue!

I only put the end of the fight in the log. Minor point, but there were four. The point is, when I try to fight solo, say around Cinard, I find groups of three or more. Which I DO of course fight. Only to have that lame grop call in another group of 3-4 level 50+ pukes. I don't like to back down. You saw my Dark Tower fight vs NSL ?? Anyway, it's tiring.

Yes, too many skilled ppl play whites. One of there reason i dont play my elves any more
is to get a little challange at all. (would be easy to start roaming
with 50, 41 levels characters, not rerolled since m6 yet...)

to warrens, noc, ooc or just spam far to start having fun again.

atracts large groups too, when few darkies around. And that is the
point lately. Yes, if you look graphics in mume.pvv.org, you dont see
a big decline, but number of leggends playing is realy realy down.
Instead there is clueless troll newbies who taking break from their elves
to map warrens, or snagas to see inside of noc.
(not to mention low level trolls, who scout warrens for ologs, later some
white group raids).

Game would be very well balanced indeed, just when there would be a bit

I still think this entire debate isn't really about huge groups or what's fair and unfair. In my opinion, it's all about the link (watch as I nominate myself for membership in the Glendale fan club here). In this particular case, Fyrestar was casting and getting his spell off before Moonglum had the chance to leave the room. I've seen this thousands of times before. Someone tries to flee and has to start guessing which directions to go because if they don't they'll be followed and dead before they can say "No way! You are fighting for your life!" I'd love to say that it's largely skill that wins the war in MUME. But it's not. The smartest player doesn't always win; the player with the better link usually does. Sure, there are exceptions. But that's exactly what they are: exceptions. The rule is simple: fast link=greater success/less death. This isn't taking anything away from players like Jocke, Pandion, or any other super-link European. For the most part, I think they're superb players whose intimate knowledge of the game greatly assists in their victories. However, you transplant any of these super-linked Europeans into my house with my crap-ass 14.4 connection (that's right...14.4 is the fastest I can get from my house) and I think Macros the Black would look more like Macros the Black and Blue. So until God creates a way for me to get a ping lower than my monthly mortgage payment, I'll be hanging out in Greenholm enchanting arrows for newbies. Too bad Relim isn't around any longer...these arrows could really screw up some newbie Trolls...hmmm...

Just to clear things up with what happened to me. I logged in naked, got some cash and bought plain eq, a black metal shield, and a club. I collected some draught stuff and made my way west to get vials... I get to warrens at slow mps, so i run in smelly. I rest near the smelly trolls and then 5 pukes spam in my room, out, then back in and hit me before i can stand up. You had no idea i was even there until you spammed past me, so dont make it look like your group of 5 "stormed" Moonie, Kakarot, and I. Moonie was dead before i even got there and had any idea of what was going on... This game is starting to piss me off now too: I play my pukes and i get totally bored because of the lack of fair fights i can find with Darkies, so i attempt brave (stupid?) shit like i did with Mikala vs those 3 bns in another log. I die. I log in darkie because i guess they need more uruks to log on, and i run into a group of 5 pukes draughtless and weak inside warrens. What the fuck is the point of this game now? Have fun right... become a warlord? This shit will never happen with me so maybe its time for me to leave too... If only my computer would run everquest i would quit this game oh so fast and leave a trail of flying dust behind me.

After I retired all of my darkies, I waited 30 minutes and logged on Lore to begin the puke-retire process. Lore had heard rumors of Ginlon's wimpy ways so he couldn't pass up the opportunity to rip Ginlon a little *poke*. I like Ginlon as a person - kewl guy - and his girlfriend rocks as well. But, I don't like his solution to the overpowered, overkilling puke problem - joined them. I asked him why he does not play darkies more or better yet, exclusively. His answer, I tried playing my BN earlier but I died. There's your answer I guess. I didn't ask the details but I bet he did what I did, logged on BN, ZERO or FEW high levels logged on, tried to solo hunt but quickly died. Not much fun.

Why can't darkies be AS or MORE powerful than pukes when the darkie is in an evil aligned zone? Give darkies spells and powers that will make them fearsome in evil zones. The powers / skills simply wont work when not in these zones. This would give lowbies and newbies the 'safe haven' they need. These skills/powers would be 'Sauron provided' powers. They would of course work in darkness covered zones as well.

Who knows, maybe BNs have more spells, more hps, etc etc. Trolls have better movement in evil zones but west of neni the 'good influences' eat movement points harshly. You get the idea.

Newbie / Lowbie pukes would still be safe, good-player pukes would have a challenge fighting darkies and MORE people would in turn want to play darkies - because it would be fun and still challenging.

Finally, I would like to say - GO BUSH ! :)

Removing all comment won't help anybody. If you think its just whine, better
quit reading them. Since Dorien doesn't work with the page atm, the only way
to improve things here is to think about what we write before we write it.
Seriously, you cannot believe many of all these ugly words here about just

Its not that difficult to solo or duo pk. If you know there are hugegroupers in the area, avoid that area and concentrate somewhere else. If u sit in warrens you are going to get overkilled from time to time, plain and simple. You expect solo pukes to charge in there and take on all the shit in there? Most times it aint gonna happen. If you dont like the hugegrouping spamming superlinked trapper types, just stay out in the open so u can move around more easily. I dont hang around ford much anymore because of these reasons. I simply cannot outrun a pack of spammers with my link when there are bottlenecks and shit, so I hang around where they aren't. Eregion is full of solo and duo pukes to kill all the time, and if you know the area u can disappear in seconds if the hugegroup of european spammers comes for you. Get rid of portal too. If you say that you like smallgroup pk, you dont need portal and can get a real spell instead of that crap. Its not hard to solo or duo pk at all, you just have to go about it the correct way.

Pk nowadays is like , 4 pukes trapping in noc darktree, 10 others raiding warrens and 6 are doing dt at the same time. I'm not going to mention 10+ pukelegends afking in bree. If one darkielegend logs in then those 20 experienced players with fast links will go all after him.

the way that entering/leaving combat is so dependant on the player receiving

Plato you must have heard an odd cross-section of darkies (if they voiced support for Bush) since in my experience I have noticed that darkies live a life of Marxist communism. That is: FROM each according to his ability, and TO each according to his need. Pukes on the other hand, exist in a capitalist system of free market. Trolls and BNs (and to a lesser degree Orcs) do not have the perks of Kapitalist/Puke society and must rely on each other for support. Because of this, darkies foster a brotherhood among themselves, and the greedy ways of the palefaces are despised. I think the Bree Legends (the shiftless democrats sitting all day jobless playing MUME then want to be supported by a welfare system) are one of the top voting groups for Al "Bore" in this election, they don't want to go out and work for their equip, and they want handouts from their friends that actually do! Eh, you don't need a great link to play, pkill, or succeed on Mume. Sure I don't get as many kills when I'm led by a superlinked guy, but I do just fine solo. I'm not on any great link, some slow ass FLorida connection that likes to route through Texas before heading to Mume, go figure. Grimble was dead on about pkill and so was Jocke. It's not the link, and darkies are no harder to play really then whities anymore (just different). Moonglum is just a victim of what he helped to start.

My 56k dialup modem (which can't connect over 28.8 on a good day) and aol gives me a large disavandatage with my darkies. I remember many times playing with Moonglum, I also remember many traps that ended up with many darkies on a couple pukes (not by choice). All I have to say is any puke group that is going to raid warrens needs at least 3-4 good players to have any chance of getting out with their scalps attatched. You can't believe that Ginlon's whole plan was to riad warrens, track down moonglum, and get the fk out...

Hrrrm Moonglum complaining about the lack of fun in mume is pretty ironic, considering it's permanent portal trappers like him that are the largest reason for that. People trap constantly --> others get very cautious and don't go indoors --> outdoors killing is much easier with overkill/poison

Drooling - Ginlon and his group had been hunting me 4 vs 1 near Dark Tower and Loudwater not 2 minutes before this log. I had slow link so ported away to avoid fight. Remember, it was 4 vs 1. Ginlon would be a tough fight for any bn 1 vs 1, even with a good link. Ginlon scouted cave solo, ran out to get his group, and spammed back in to hunt me. So yes, he was entering warrens to hunt me 4 vs 1.
