: Since not all of us have ainur to check up on these
: things, I have decided to post the idea i sent to
: them (not the exact words but same idea):
:
: Mume is in turmoil atm. Players are quitting, changes
: are being implemented that many do not like, balance
: of pk depends on what lab happens to log in what races,
: etc etx ext...
:
: Since everyone seems to have complaints and possible
: solutions to the problems that plague MUME today I
: have come up with an idea (i might not be the only
: one thinking this).
:
: Implement a survey (Like the one Manwe sets up every
: couple years or so) that deals with these problems.
: Let the format of Survey #1 be based on 5 issues you
: would like resolved with MUME. Set it up so that each
: issue gets 3 lines of text (So we don't see novels
: written about each issue).
:
: Assign maia(s) the responsibility of tabulating all
: of the issues and making a master list of the "Top
: 5 Issues MUME Would Like Resolved."
:
: Implement Survey #2 with the same format to allow MUMers
: the opportunity to come up with SOLUTIONS for these top
: 5 ISSUES.
:
: Again, assign maia(s) the responsibility of organ-
: izing these solutions (there will generally be a
: trend on how to fix the problems) and presenting them
: to higher officials so they can discuss them and
: To higher officials so they can discuss them. Use
: these solutions or variations of them to help better
: our MUME community.
:
: Survey #1 could last one rl week, take one off week to
: tabulate them, and Survey #2 could take another. Hope-
: fully, these issues will be resolved within 2 or so
: months.
:
: This survey serves many purposes and among them are:
: helping Maia gain Maia levels (giving them the tabulation
: and organizing duties), letting the voices of MUME
: players be heard, and ultimately helping resolve many
: of MUME's current issues.
:
: Thank you for your time in reading this and I hope you
: consider it as a possible option in helping MUME regain
: its once prominent playerbase and reputation as the Best
: Tolkien Mud Out There.
:
: Alweon, won't come back until changes are made.

i love the idea
GORETONGUE2000-11-16 04:34:49
Make it so
Fyre2000-11-16 04:49:35
I'm in
Fëagil2000-11-16 04:53:09
I'm in too, but i don't wanna know the poor maia who has to organize the solutions :)
Nerf2000-11-16 05:16:05
Great idea, but the gods gonna say they dont have time to do that type of thing
Finwë2000-11-16 05:20:03
Nice idea, but I noticed you posted this to the InCharacter board. This is not
incharacter stuff, so if you want to post it on a board readable by mortals, the
General board may be more appropriate.
Jocke2000-11-16 05:32:34
What if a few leaves the game? Thats quite normal. There are still new players
replacing those who quit.
Alweon2000-11-16 06:04:56
hehe, yah i noticed that afterwards too. I guessing Draught or someone will move it to the applicable board. Most people are leaving for reasons directly related to the problems mume has atm. There are a few that are leaving because it affects their rl, and i respect that. But for the others, i believe we can voice our opinions in a controlled environment where the gods will at least look at the issues and hopefully listen to what we have to say. Gods have mortals too (in most cases) so they are also affected by what is happening.
Alweon2000-11-16 06:12:37
And to Jocke: Unless things have changed drastically since about 25 good players quit, I don't remember MUME being a newbie bustling mud. About 9.5/10 new characters on the light or dark side are players that have at least a few others, and probably 2 legends (tiny exaggeration but you get my point). I know we need to increase the amount of players rolling in, but lately MUME has not been the most newbie friendly mud. Mechanically yes (newbie kits until level 5, no killing someone under level 5, helpful gods and coded mobs), but not many players actually take time to help the newbies. Unless you and a friend start this mud together, it is very difficult to get started on.
Healy2000-11-16 06:36:24
i'd love for this to happen
Healy2000-11-16 06:37:21
Although i dont think any1 should be allowed to vote or talk of such things unelss they have legends on both side of war since all newbies will beat out the darkise single handedl on what changes they want
Unknown2000-11-16 07:36:19
And trolllegends dont count :) theyre all newbies anyway
Lalin2000-11-16 07:53:07
really nice, then something would done:)
Tempest2000-11-16 08:01:45
I haven't noticed a change yet. most of those who said they quit still play, and actually has been alot more single 2vs2 battles now. maybe those who retired were the problem :/
Uldrak2000-11-16 09:04:39
I totaly agree with jocke.
Treastin2000-11-16 09:37:10
I have gotten tired of mume imbalance. It is about time something happened. maia's are here for a reason, right? Or they just here to be (idle)...(retired)...or ( Yaddayadda can't hear you.)
Moonshade2000-11-16 10:41:42
Very good idea imho.
But voting should be allowed only for accounts with at least one legend (heroe maybe) on each war side. Otherwise little 13 year morons will abuse it...
Bamse2000-11-16 10:55:16
I am sad to say that I don't think anything like this will happen.
The ones that decide on muds hardly ever give a shit about what you
or me think. And regarding players rolling in, it's a hell of a lot easier
to get started on mume now that it was in mume6. Remember stathunting?
I meet total newbies more than ever.
Elistan the Gre2000-11-16 12:37:11
Hmm, what to say...yes its a nice idea though your chances of it happening is slim. And I agree with Moonshade for the simple fact a good fraction % of the problem is to do with the 13 year old kids that do nothing but abuse the game. Forcing older, experienced, and mature players to quit for 1 or 2 new players, I feel I would rather the old than the new. But the motto on MUME is more players the better it gets (even if this is a bunch of bullshit). So I wish you the best of luck in gettings your idea considered.
Fëagil2000-11-16 14:15:02
I wouldn't say you need at least 1 legend on both sides, since some ppl are playing for one side only. I'll soon have a darkie legend i hope, but atm, i don't and i'd still like to vote. And afaik Stormblast couldn't vote either if legend on both sides would be required :) IMHO the management still decides what changes will be implemented and think they consider the ones only helping 13 year-olds of somewhat lesser value. I'm looking forward to the voting, but so i don't forget i post 1 idea here: ban narrate channel up to level 10 and sing channel up to level 5, create a newbie channel with different colour than sing and narrate for newbie questions etc. I think i'd personally have the newbie channel on most of the time, but i can turn it off in pk situations or when someone starts spamming it.
Axel2000-11-16 14:32:11
legend does not mean shit anyways - so do not overrate it
tindomerel2000-11-16 15:03:22

some high god(guess you visit mume.net too) give your opinion?
Thror2000-11-16 15:16:01
If gods would just put back the old wp system all would be fixed since as far I
can see thats what caused all this overkilling and other lameass activities.
Rashnak2000-11-16 16:44:53
I have bene playing mume for a while and seen some changes, but none so critical that they would have made me want to leave. Maybe i'm just too addicted though. The way i understood it you want players/maia to gather a small list of major changes that should be made asap, but I don't think its realistic to expect something like that. I think most of imps and higher management plan the future of mume in somewhat longer time scale than a couple of months, so getting any changes that would make real impact in things like players quitting etc through in just a couple of months wont work.

The way i see it is that mume is evolving in the direction the management and creators of this game intended, and has almost always been. I don't think they should change that course just because the changes make game less attractive to some of the existing players.

It's their game, not yours, you just play it. Or don't play, whatever suits you best.
Mammoth2000-11-16 16:45:11
"Players are quitting" *chuckle*
Mud is unquitable. That has been proven already long long long time ago
Alweon/Malak2000-11-16 17:35:48
Well, i just came up with an idea. This idea could be modified to suit the V+'s ideas. And the issues/solutions don't have to be implemented as the players want, they would be at V+ discretion. I feel this would be a controlled forum where the players express their ideas and the gods look at them. The way it is now, people find something they dont like, post a log about it, and whine/swear/bitch/moan about it. This imho is not the way to get the gods to seriously consider the issues mume faces atm. And to Rashnak, the time frame i mentioned (2-3 months i think i said) would be very prone to what the gods would think is a better time frame. I dont care how long some changes take to happen, just so long as they do happen eventually.
Nerf2000-11-16 18:18:09
Well thank god for mume.net so we don't have to hear all the whining in narrates........
Meteor2000-11-16 19:16:04
Very nice idea =)))))
Kaldae2000-11-16 21:58:09
Go go, finally...
Glader2000-11-16 22:34:22
I agree somewhat, but I don't mind if many leave, as Joakim said, there are still people to replace them who (hopefully) are easier kills. *Sorry, had to*
burn2000-11-16 22:47:05
Then can we send the survey down to florida and have them tally up the results.
Alweon/Malak2000-11-16 22:53:43
Well, i am not expecting anything to come about this very soon. I have been informed that messages posted on the idea board are voted on the first of every month. This is a couple weeks from now.
Niya2000-11-17 04:41:41
I'd love something like this too - a really good idea you got there =)
Jocke2000-11-17 10:57:46
Actually i think it's good that some players left/are leaving MUME. Some of those
players were/are some boring, narrow minded whiners who do nothing but spoil
the atmosphere of MUME. Guys who can't manage changes.
Finwë2000-11-17 13:57:13
*lol at Glader and Burn* :)
