Bobbie2000-12-10 04:12:18
In this particular issue I vote for demotion. Does this improve the game in any way? No it doesn't. Its enough with the trapping and overkilling, you have to get peoples eq in a lame way? I mean what if I would bash gate at bree, then wait one south, orcs come and Ill do the: The ;Cha mood berserk;north;hit guard seems to be closed.
Lame AND boring is my statement.
Hannibal2000-12-10 04:13:53
it was just as lame when galadon did it to me=)

he used #killall so that he ruined my whole jmc *thnx man!*
Evan2000-12-10 04:36:03
Well Carak If the gods follow the rules they will Demote Carak i dont know
if rules state reimbusing ppl to.
But Rules misc
In general : make people do unlikely things are illegal.
Evan2000-12-10 04:36:40
And no i dont use those silly dooractions.
Carak2000-12-10 04:38:12
Well i didn't emote it:P
I just posted the log how dwarf got away awful! :P
unknown2000-12-10 04:44:55
well i didnt think that door actions that set a variable were illegal
unless i missed something his action auto opened the door?
Rogon2000-12-10 04:49:04
Illegal yes, funny, yes. Can't really feel sorry when people have triggers and stuff :)
Nerf2000-12-10 04:50:13
Go fuck yourself little maia
Nerf2000-12-10 04:55:46
that was to bobbie, not rogon, but if yer in the mood.....
Dorak2000-12-10 05:43:37
really, that doortrigger is exactly what rules actions says is illegal, yet it's legal? imo that is the most bullshit trigger as you can escape a well planned trap just by typing your great 'cd', and yeah, it requires you to type a 2 letter alias so I guess that means it's as slow as my open shatteredbranches, flee, which I try to get in before I die :P
Aschit2000-12-10 06:21:05
Hmm, I never knew the 'making people do unlikely things' was illegal :P Personally, I wouldn't have recommended someone doing this in pk for at least a couple months, so word can spread that such triggers are clearly illegal.
Cur2000-12-10 09:22:52
Well, the rule is that emulating game output via emotes is illegal. The rule was set to prevent ppl from emoting * flees south or somesuch, which some people did to fuck up Kostej's autofollowing and autohitting actions. The practice was older, though, and the gods decided to ban it. Oh, -and- the actions. Nice work from the orcs, I say, and good on the lame actionusers.
Cur2000-12-10 09:23:54
...I only wish the pukes had been carrying any sort of decent equip to make it smart just a bit more. ;-)
Rain2000-12-10 10:23:33
I think it was smarts enough since Kurast suicide mobkilled himself enough times. Silly.
a snot2000-12-10 12:11:14

the doorvar thing seems to still be legal since Gothmog thinks its nice to have.
Axel2000-12-10 12:14:17
I would demote those Orcs since I see everyone running around doing that shit
now, but also I would not reimburse those pukes
Tempest2000-12-10 13:32:52
Live by the action, you deserve to die by the action.
Gazel2000-12-10 13:55:25
I guess you will be demoted for this :P)
Stile2000-12-10 13:55:45
WTF, how is this any different than what Daevia and Aschit did to me a few weeks ago. There Axel and others said it was funny to exploit my door variables, this is NO different.
Mumma2000-12-10 14:05:42
agree stile
Voile2000-12-10 16:06:03
To clear things up a bit for all you messed up jerks out there...
An action that sets door variables are still legal, as long as it dont send any
input to the game. The only reason you managed to get these guys to send a command into the game, was because you abused theire linebreaker.
In a normal situation, you won't see The ; Rem all;drop all seems to be closed, and you won' send any commands to the mud.
I recently mailed a test-script to gothmog, where i asked about what was legal, and what wasn't.

I asked this question:
Is this script legal in pk ?
#action {The %1 seems to be closed} {#ali {od} open %1}, wich will allow me to open next door by typing od, instead of its name.

Here is Gothmogs reply :
Under the current rules, it's legal (since the "action" or "trigger" does
not itself produce immediate game input).

/Gothmog

Hope i cleared up a few confusions. So, until further notice, door variables are legal.

Best regards,
Voile.
Moonshade2000-12-10 16:44:08
According to the last Fror's post it isn't illegal to screw other people
who use poor written actions.
Aragazt2000-12-10 16:50:03
So, was Kurast demoted?
He is level 17 now, was level 24 a day ago...
a snot2000-12-10 17:37:25

since sending this line causes the opponents client to do send input to the game that drastically effects pk, the pukes in this log should be demoted!
Axel2000-12-10 18:12:07
sure I thought it was funny - as long as it happens once in a while - now all
the kiddies will start doing this shit
Unknown2000-12-10 18:20:07
Well.. Demotion or not.. I wonder why people do not learn how to use their clients... I myself use the trigger Voile talk about, but in another way.
Like "#tri ^The &doorname seems to be closed." That way the client(zmud in my case, dont know about jmc) will interpret only 1 word and not a sentence. And by using a ^ before your triggers you easily avoid the situation of dropping all your stuff, standing there all naked ;-)
Manatark2000-12-10 18:28:36
Ppl is it really that hard to configure clients so that this kind of shit wouldn't work?
Murdok2000-12-10 18:43:40
Configuring clients are easy... But my guess is that actions/triggers are borrowed among the friends and noone really takes any time to look at what they get and have no idea about what their triggers do. As I wrote as a comment in another log: Don't use it unless you know what they do.
Vorlin2000-12-10 19:31:09
Using the reasoning of so many here, no murderer should ever be sent to prison. I mean, the victim should have learned to defend themself! Their dying is clearly their fault. *sarcasm off* Yes, people should learn to use their clients well. No, people should not be abused by others who exploit game mechanics (emotes) to take advantage of their ignorance. Normally the Mume management shows a decent sense of what should and shouldn't be allowed, in this case I feel they've dropped the ball. Maybe they just dislike client users so much that they don't feel like they should be defended from abuse? I dunno.
Cur2000-12-10 19:45:56
Well, I think that the management has been protecting rather than harrassing the client users so far, so I totally disagree with you, Vorlin.
Pampalini2000-12-10 20:08:26
If you have said it i would be perfect - you cant get demoted for what you say
i hope...
Vorlin2000-12-10 21:51:34
Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but in what way have client users been protected by mume management?
Rippin2000-12-10 22:37:22
My 2pence: Demote orc, sending out game input is illegal.
Emoteing is dead! R.I.P. should get u demoted aswell.

As for action: setting variable in action is NOT illegal yet?
I use #color command in trigger, which will make me try to use the same input from game. This is by no means illegal, and if u try it on me, i think 95% of all gods will agree with me that u are in serious shit.

Just getting those with power.... :)
Cur2000-12-12 13:51:04
Well, the management has not exactly reacted with lightning speed when people have been using their clients to gain an unfair advantage so far. Remember how long the actionhitters roamed Arda before actionhitting was finally made illegal? And how long we protested about people autotracking until they finally banned that too? And how long we have been saying that open/close doortriggers are unfair before that finally got (partially) banned too? Or how about the fact that it isn't illegal to make your client automatically insert the direction and doorname of any secret passage anywhere, triggered by room name and acted upon (open/close) by pressing a single key? I mean, why even bother mapping? Just get the file from a friend or labmate, and roam at will. Some people even have their client automatically warn them of dt's in adjacent rooms. No, the management could be doing -way- more to restrict the power of the clientusers.

Leave Rogon alone Nerf, or you shall feel the power of noise.
