Saw an elf come out of rdell and run around to fool me maybe. then this:
* R C>Path to the Misty Mountains
There is some snow on the ground.
*an Elf* is standing here.
Exits: North East South West.
A pack horse has arrived from the north.

* R C>cast 'fireball'  elf
You start to concentrate...

*an Elf* begins some strange incantations...

* R C HP:Hurt Mana:Burning *an Elf*:Fine>
Ok.
You feel yourself exposed.
Your fireball completely envelops *an Elf* in flames.
*an Elf* utters the words 'qarr diesilla'
A loud crack of thunder can be heard as *an Elf* calls down lightning on you.
That really HURT!
You slash *an Elf*'s body and tickle it.

* R C HP:Hurt Mana:Burning *an Elf*:Fine>

kk* R C HP:Hurt Mana:Burning *an Elf*:Fine>

You feel less protected.

You wish that your wounds would stop BLEEDING so much!

You flee head over heels.

might have been kirmin i think
Mlendion2001-01-19 21:59:01
heh, I was sure you were gonna rip with second call as I read the log.
Astar2001-01-19 22:09:37
BN power!!! Rejoice!
tasslehoff2001-01-19 22:11:14
Ì wonder why people used to call stab overpowered
stab at least needs somone to sneak up on some1
/call/call -> rip
or bash/narrate/call/call/call/call/call etc.
change it goddammit
Nimroth2001-01-19 22:30:43
God those calls sucked bigtime.
Mlendion2001-01-19 22:32:00
Sure, you gotta get weather up to be able to call too.. not often natural lightning. What's easier when you spot an enemy, starting to get weather up or typing dismount/sneak? It's very likely that ppl in zone will read the messages about weather getting cloudy, rainy, lighting, stormy in a few secs. There is (should be) a message as you enter the zone aswell.
a snot2001-01-19 22:41:50

there is no message on entering, i have reported it 2321412342 times
Ilmarin2001-01-19 22:51:40
Wasn't that in a recent news text. That they had changed it. Atleast from coming inside going outside.
Mlendion, you've tried just dismounting and stabbed? Anyone with a quarter of a clue is spam flushing as soon
as they see a known scout.
Sturm2001-01-19 22:54:03
There is no message on entering lightning sometimes, but sometimes there is. Its strange. If you are in a zone where someone is trying to control the weather however, you will usually see the weather change at least once if you spend more than a tick in the area. If you get hit with it after seeing this message, then you should go rent a tractor and a chain and pull your head out of your ass. Its not more overpowered than stab, as you would find out if you tried to use call solo. It drains all of your mana trying to keep lightning up, and most ppl wont fight you. Of course if there is a basher and 2 or more callers, you can put your head between your knees and kiss your ass goodbye.
Roman2001-01-19 23:31:31
Some people spam search every 3,5 seconds even in closed rooms.
Oscarmeyer2001-01-19 23:34:35
*nod* Roman. And, it 95% of the time will take 2 stabs to kill a legend opponent: thieves/warriors have high hps, clerics/mages have armour spell. There are always a few people clueless enough to eat 1 stab. But even the densest newbie knows not to stand still long enough to eat a 2nd. Missile for bns is a joke, since even a midlev will rock you hard while you spam shoot :P
Oscarmeyer2001-01-19 23:36:14
Oh, and stab isn't storable. I believe bashed people were made nostab just because it was seen as wizkill: bash, return and stab during delay. Why is call (which does as much dam and is storable) different?
Maybe I'll make a bashing mage: bolt bolt bolt to lower hps/remove shield, bash, call rip :)
Valamir2001-01-20 00:14:59
it was my fucking calls and they do about 250 damage each!!!
*CACK*
Galadon to Osca2001-01-20 00:32:50
Actually, I have 1 prac in bash.. not to bashtrap people with my own calls though, more like "I'm fucking scary since I have bash as well"-strategy
Oscarmeyer2001-01-20 01:22:36
Well, I doubt you will get to use it on me anyway, as I try to never stay in a fistfight (especially with a legend!) long enough to eat a bash :)
Grang2001-01-20 01:26:39
galadon says he has bash NOT to bashtrap? rotfl!
Mlendion2001-01-20 01:49:50
I'm not saying call isn't overpowered and i'm not saying stab is either, just saying that you need preparations for call, and it can be avoided with checking weather local, or looking at the messages as you enter zones. none of this takes either move or very much time, but it's annoying to have another thing to be aware of, flu q isn't enough, you need to check weather too if you want to avoid this. And I don't think many ppl do, so if the msg upon entering zones is bugged, this means ppl will eat calls. (some probably still would but alot less)
Mlendion2001-01-20 01:55:42
Ilmarin: Yes, I've played a few scouts, ofcourse ppl will spamsearch when they know a known scout is in the area, that's why you are supposed to stay in the shades until the time of the stab, then if you miss that stab, it get's boring.
Cause then ppl know and you gotta go somewhere else or stay low, and eventually ppl will "forget" that you are around, thinking you left etc.. Not that i've pk'd much with a scout, this is just how i tried to play it, and it's boring.

Listening to narrates about who is hurt/wounded/bad, spamming there if you think you have moves enough to get there, and fail the stab and die moveless or take it slow and regen some and target heals, runs away etc etc.. bleh!
Kazan2001-01-20 03:28:05
Same as i wonder what level u are adi, u did a whole 30 damage to me on that fball the other day *cackle*
Korf2001-01-20 03:35:43
all adi can do is portal in 11 vs 1 on me :)
Weigraf2001-01-20 05:10:30
30 hps on FIREBALL? That's HORRIBLE! wtf is wrong with your fball adi?!
Although i was fireballed by legend bn at level 11 for only 75 hps, not bad for my low level :-)
Asmandeus2001-01-20 11:09:46
One really easy way to make Call not so powerful: make it a cleric spell
Haldis2001-01-20 11:26:01
Control weather should be cleric spell (it is more like a divine magic thing), whilst call should remain mage spell.. then call is no longer as effective, allthough I must agree that it is not easy at ALL to get in a call against a player with some clue. (not that ther ARE any things that can singelhandedly whack off a player with clue anyhow IMO)
Prist2001-01-20 13:23:51
Ehhh... give control weather spell to bns and you can see how every pukemage in rdell starts to spam cast 'control w' clouds less...
tasslehoff2001-01-20 20:46:17
nah, mages still need control weather, otherwise they arent playable
anymore,
consider it, they only got staffs +4 attackspell store pale blue stones
quikbolts sprays quakes
why make them needlessly underpowered..
Vorlin2001-01-21 01:58:44
As far as 30 damage fireballs go, if cast quick fireballs tend to do about 60 damage, if opponent has armour up that cuts it to 30.
