Implement *weak man*, *harmless sissy* or whatever now!
Vai2001-02-02 02:38:10
Maybe you didn't hold your AFK sign high enough in the air?
My suggestion is camp or drop link if you go AFK.

Anyway comfort to the death.
ithilorn2001-02-02 03:36:02
Well we were all very sorry once the bloodred rage had left us. Our leader Nardun even wanted to mumemail you and tell you he was sorry, but I talked him out of it. I told him that for a newbie bn those kinds of things happen 6 times a day. How ever we do still apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused you or your family. We were only acting from oreders from the valar.
Hollow2001-02-02 03:47:19
I was half-elf, and giggled because I was lagged and saw you afk. I didn't
think nardun would hit since I figgured he saw afk too. When I saw him hit I
figgured what the hell, you were a goner anyway. I assisted. My level 5 bn
died yesterday to rza, who whacked me even after I yelled lowbie and spammed
some 25 rooms away.
Reef2001-02-02 04:08:56
Dude if you are able to see bn, giggle and then assist in that time, then you sure as hell were NOT lagged....
Shriek2001-02-02 06:22:51
Huge group... Hope there was some smobbing, or Moria going on Nardun. And hollow's got a mean dispel, I found out today.

*Comfort* on the death, but afk is usually a controllable situation. If you had link problems, that would be a different story, of course. However, unless you had noquit, there is no reason you shouldn't have typed 'camp rent' and then gotten up during the delay. Hindsight is always 20/20 though. For example, look at my log of dying while writing a mail in tbad. :)
Jaron2001-02-02 14:28:42
erm how is afk a controllable situation? if your afk you prolly had some rl emergency(meaning u perhaps should linkdrop or camprent) but still it's no controllable situation
Mouser the griz2001-02-02 18:39:57
What? We can now call for timeouts? Blah ... if you need to go afk ...
get to safety. What would you expect? A girl friend asking a question is an
emergency? Of course AFK is controllable .... its a decision you make, lost
link is not. (well except you link droppers out there)

If you're foolish enough to go afk
with pukes nearby, don't be surprised that someone tries to whack you.
Fumble to Mouse2001-02-02 18:44:26
A GF asking a question isn't an emergency, its only an emergency when you don't answer straight away and you've been playing mume for the last 12 hours....
Mouser2001-02-02 22:30:25
Ok I can see that .... especially if you have blown off the previous
10 questions *shiver*
Voile2001-02-03 01:36:32
Hehe, well i didnt post this log to coplain, nor whine, i just found it funny that the elf giggled :)
And to those of you who dont think its an emergency when gf is yelling... try to get one, and you will know what i mean !
Nardun2001-02-04 02:29:57
I am ever so sorry Casque. I was rather rusty and fumbling to find the right key to attack, rather than seeing you were afk. Mm, the group was just nice people I like grouping with, and we were getting small things like herblores together, or in this case a branch for a focus. I can give one little advice that will help against groups like ours. If you rest away from the main road for large groups walking between the Tharbad-area and Dunland/Abr-area there'll be less chance of these unfortunate kills. I have been feeling a bit bad about it, sorry again.
Nardun2001-02-04 02:37:32
Having thought about it a bit I am a bit uncertain about what I should do in a situation where I see the AFK-sign. The rule is very clear: Fight, flee or you are open for getting demoted. Fleeing, of course, would have been the nobler thing to do.
Oruk2001-02-04 12:00:16
Well even as a darkie I say kill him!! Otherwise it is open to abuse.
I had a hobbit kill me when I was afk and I dont hold a grudge even though
he was shooting arrows and I obviously didnt even hit back. After 10 or more
arrows you'd think someone would stop! Oh well. But kill on sight by all means
since Gandalf wouldnt have said "hmmm let this one live..."
Fergus2001-02-04 12:00:45
Ah yes but you die regularly too Oruk.....
Oruk2001-02-04 12:01:08
Hmmm
Nardun2001-02-09 15:52:57
Gandalf, isn't he the one saying "Many people die though they deserve to live. Can you give them back life? Then, don't be so ready to hand out deaths." He's talking about sparing Gollum's life. (freely translated from danish)
Gandalf, who tells pippin when pippin has offered his services to Minas Tirith "Cold advice should not stand in the way of a noble deed." (again, loose translation)
But while I would love to let the tiny bn run, I am still not sure it's legal.
