Yeah, Preach on Benji!

Bring this mutha home to USA. Oh, and see if you can get that chick on
Enso's picture over here with it.
Juston2001-03-04 06:06:55
Instead of that, we should destroy the human race in favor of a world monarchy run by hyper-intelligent dogs (preferably ones that aren't too shaggy).
Vecna2001-03-04 06:24:56
You should do a bit more research before you post crap like this. I'm willing to bet your using AOL also to get online, because that is EXACT path AOL uses to get across, Mr.Franklin. AOL is know to have a massive problem in the DNS services and this has happened many times. You and me both need to think about getting a real isp. BTW a MUME in the states is prolly never going to happen. And if you think you can't compete with european players... leave, and quit whining. I do it every day and its never been a problem for me on my +400ms link.
Vecna2001-03-04 06:26:13
(compete that is, not whine) ;)
Unknown2001-03-04 07:51:37
#1 i'm not on aol, but i use the same network path to get to mume and it has been all sorts of fucked up lately
#2 this is the saddest 'log' i've ever seen...i order you to step away from the computer, go outside, and repeat to yourself 'it's just a game, it's just a game'
not just AOL2001-03-04 07:53:45
Lots of things use that path, not just AOL. My ISP, for instance.
Unknown but kno2001-03-04 07:59:42
Its doable and there would be very little that they could do about it. I asked the lawyer ppl and he said that there would be no legal recourse,
Idiot Vecna2001-03-04 08:00:52
I'm willing to bet this lady that you know who just had a child is a hedgehog, because in order to feed her child she lactates milk through mammary glands, and that is the EXACT way that hedgehog mothers feed their children, Mr. Franklin.
Vecna2001-03-04 08:11:19
Oi, this is the last comment i write on mume.net (unless/until a login for comments and such is made). First off, quit using unknown(and the like of), afraid to show that your on .com? Second, like three comments are all the same moron, might as well put it all under one comment. If you want to at least prove something, copy and paste the hops. And last ... ? ehh? Idiot Vecna?
Benjamin2001-03-04 08:48:55
Nah. I dont use aol. am on a DSL which normally works fine. many times of
late, has been frozen for 24 hours at a stretch. compete? heh. i compete just
fine. Was bored and checking to see if any usa'ers had found similar games
based in the states or had thought about scooting a mirror site here for our benefit. and btw, game was UP again. for 15 mins. now char froze in dangerous zone. Probably fucking mobdeath. Great game. Glad its in Sweden.
Mandor2001-03-04 10:20:30
Sorry, game is neither in Finland nor Sweden. Norway is the country with lagged routers and fjords (and MUME).
American Asshol2001-03-04 10:56:02
thats pretty much the basic routes i get also and i play from Indiana
on a private server, no AoL applies. Step down from your pedastal bitch!

love,

American Asshole
petrel2001-03-04 10:58:45
In this case England is the country with the lagged router. And the USA is the
country with ISPs which don't give enough of a fuck to find an alternate route
when teleglobe goes down. Let's give credit where credit is due. As for this idea of stealing 'a copy of MUME', if it's not just an unfunny joke, all I can say is that it combines moral cluelessness with total cluelessness about what MUME consists of now.
Vorlin2001-03-04 11:02:17
Vecna, the reason you drew heat is because you took an attitude of superiority that was in fact completely unwarranted: that route has nothing at all to do with AOL. I'm on a modem dialup out of Louisville KY, I go to Chicago, New York, then rest of the way to Mume is normally through Teleglobe. And Teleglobe has a tendency to go tits up about 5 times a day for extended periods of time (with no warning lag beforehand, either). And as for moving it to America helping, it may or may not. I've played on muds here that had far worse lag than mume currently does for me (barring Teleglobe foolishness). One sluggish router is all it takes to ruin mud performance, and there is no shortage of slow routers here.

Petrel commented:

Yes, let us discuss exactly what MUME consists of now. There are maybe, MAYBE
15 people on this MUD that I trust or at least find neutral and non-assholic.
I could easily count twice that many who are rude, greedy, self serving egomaniacs who like to ruin the game for others or at least just enjoy pissing
other players off and being generally non-enjoyable to work with/around.
Sad thing is: management has the same ratio of assholes/philanthropists. OH,
and the LAB PLAYERS? I have a feeling that far fewer folk play from labs in the
US than from Eurodisney. MOving a mirror site to US, and allowing local managers
to take over implementation of OUR version, in my opinion would be a blessing.

Aschit2001-03-04 16:00:21
Hmm, why would a mirror site be such a bad idea? Would be far fewer linkless deaths, complaints of lag, etc. All that would have to be done is to find a host computer, and simply download the most recent version of the game after changes etc. I'm no computer expert, but I'm betting news posts, etc., could even be easily posted to both sites. I may be oversimplifying things, but would it be all that hard to do?
Vorlin2001-03-04 17:46:25
The mirror site would be complicated because people are involved, and wherever people are involved things get complicated, bizarre, stupid, weird, perverted, etc., etc.. And where would mirroring end? There would still be people heavily lagged on both sites that would then demand a third site be set up.
Azg2001-03-04 17:49:55
I love how people with false names make a whole log about a topic they don't understand one bit, someone drop a wood-burning stove on Benjamin? he's not quite dead yet.
balzak2001-03-04 18:29:35
i think we should move the server to a little indian village in the north amazon
a snot2001-03-04 19:04:02
or put it on a boat sailing around the globe?
Edvard2001-03-04 22:09:34
lol nod snot... then we can all enjoy a good link once in a while *snicker*
Pilois2001-03-05 00:28:28
Just use a server that doesn't take that path...
Unknown2001-03-05 00:54:52
Isn't this just the normal american arrogance, that the ISP's don't bother finding good routes to countries outside of the US? "If it's not american, it surely must suck!"
Snarf2001-03-05 10:10:30
Well there is some truth to "if it's not american, it surely must suck"
Cele2001-03-05 14:15:58
"irony on" >
What about that oceania or how was it called? Brittain old gun tower in he atlantic ocean. They claim there to be independent state and offer IT services:)
Unknown2001-03-05 16:27:53
why don't you fucking american whiners just program your own mume to your own satisfaction. And while your at it create you own isp company. And like Al Gore, create YOUR OWN FUCKING INTERNET. btw(im american with shitty link and do i complain?)
Aschit2001-03-06 14:48:43
You must complain, unknown, or you would have stated your name so we could tell you whether you did or not. Also, I kinda like Cele's idea :)
