trail.

undergrowth, too irregular to be mere echoes.

The ground rises slightly to the south, the trees leaning into the slope like
massive balusters. The soil of the slope is friable and loose, making progress

Thin and Sparse Forest
The tree cover on this north facing slope of hillside is sparse. Stunted pines
grow across the face, struggling to find purchase on the thin and rocky soil.
The slope continues upward to the south, climbing toward a summit. To the
north, you can descend into the lower forest. To the east, a spur of hillside
runs outward from the massive flank of the range.

A Northerly Spur
This narrow ridge of high ground protrudes outward from the hill to the south
and runs deep into the lowland forest to the north. The forests climb the
sides of the spur to the east and the west but do not reach to the crest,
leaving a narrow strip of bare land, covered only with hillside grass and
heather.

Desolate Foothills
The ground rises steadily from the low forest in the north to a high ridge of
hillside in the south. To the east and west forest climbs up the foothills
toward your present location but peter out leaving this open back of high

few divots of coarse grass growing amidst the boulders where they can.
