i pulled a tooth without any medications and OUCH! That REALY HURT!

4 local anesthetics on 4 molars... ouchie... my brother had same, but they drew wrong 4 (babyteeth, he had to come again hwen true teeth came thru :))

In Canada we use anesthetic you inhale, but first they give you a shot of anti-inflamitory in the arm. You may wake up halfway through like I did, but while i was unconcious they froze my mouth, so all I could feel was a slight tug and release on my 3rd wisdom tooth. 2 seconds later, I passed out cold again =) No swelling, minor bleeding, but painful eating when the self dissolving stitches were coming loose two weeks later. (Oh and bad breath).

btw why have those wis teeth removed? they make it hard to brush?

wisdom teeth are removed so that they can't scew your normal teeth. Wisdom teeth are unecessary and are just remainders of ou ape heritage. Apes have larger jaws and our jaws have evolved to be smaller but we (some of us at least, i had only 3 wisdom teeth) still have that extra 2 pairs of teeth.

To amplify on what Jahara said, since there isn't room for the wisdom teeth in your jaw they make room by pushing your other teeth together (sort of a weird braces effect). This results in both pain and snaggle teeth (where the teeth turn sideways to slip by each other). Not good. Wisdom teeth also tend to have cavities, as they are buried too deep to brush. I had 5 taken out, and they about had to pry my head off to get to them: contrary to what some people here might believe, I have a very small mouth. *laugh*

When I got mine taken out, they gave me an injection of sodium pentathol (i think). I was out cold in approx 10 seconds after they shot me up. When I finally came out of it, I was already sitting there talking to the dentist and his hygenists - it was very strange. I was acting like an idiot like I was shit drunk or something (begging for nitrous oxide), but the buzz was kickass hehe.

My dentist said that I don't even have any, so that means I'm more evolved than all you apes

you guys are all a bunch of pansies man! i got my wisdom teeth out, played sax that night and got in a fist fight....they put in 14 stitches and removed 1(non-dissolving stitches)
