This is sorta funny, considering Chauncey and I (Elistan) were spamming silencing other Immortals in Ea. It was hilarious cause I silenced almost everyone that went to a castable room atleast 1 time. Finally we got people that use it in the game!

everyone got it.

Mume was better place when mume.net didn't excist, now there's ALOT more whining etc. But true, me and Cagim were using silence, one of NSL died to it in tbad I recall at least, + several lessimportant kills. I had known that silence rocks for long time already, wanted to use it as Engelbert with powertrack (imagine nonbobbing bn (cause of silence) running from 150% track), but I had too low wil to use it efficently (11 base), so I dropped it. Damn you Jocke that you have to post everything you think out here, now 10 out of 11 pukemages will be using silence, and it gets downgraded. Try to keep low profile mebbe next time? Silence was one of the last few things that nobody uses and that rocks. Takes me weeks to figure out some skill/spell/eq that nobody uses but that rocks.

I've had characters with silence or black breath or whatever for ages, and I'm quite
convinced many others have too. Just because it's rarely seen doesn't mean it's
rarely used. Oh well.

that everything that is not ballanced can be dowgraded if it's needed. I rather
point out problems on mume so that it can be fixed then abuse it to wizkill ppl.

For many people it's not that they don't have the clue or the guts to try out all these 'new' ideas Cagim, it's just that many of us have jobs/lives that don't let us devote 12+ hours a day to Mume. If I was able to play a 24 hour session like you and your buddies have alot recently, I'd have time to make a new legend a session just to test out ideas of mine. Fortunately I don't, so would take me more than a week rl to test out what you do in one session. At the moment, not willing to give up that much time to test new ways to abuse features.

Hmm.. I haven't seen it used in a while on trolls.. but I do remember the first time I saw it and was getting my ass kicked and couldn't narrate for people few rooms away to help. Was scary!! :) but fun

btw, you can't set poisons with spells, just gives you poison by default unless changed. Never saw it set with psylonia (c n 'poison' psylonia $targ)?

You can cast different types of poison with poison spell. just too bad everything higher than a boar is all but impossible to poison with the spell.

I've seen a log of poison spell working. *poke* Tim. >=]

You could cast poison on water skin b4 and even BN's were able to be nice poison whores.
Btw my shaman doesnt have BB and i dont have silence. And i must add that my cleric was
really close to kill Zigurakhor thanks to the spell 'protect from evil' :)

*nod Nepenthe* I know the log you mean, I think. The reason I wonder if it would be effective is because you are either going to be the wrong class for silence/sleep or for poison. I figure if anyone tried to make it work they'd do it from the mage side, which leaves poison an uphill battle to land. Of course, the advantage is that your opponent is asleep, so you don't have to land on the first try. God help us all if it -did- work, the bitching would be incredible. :)

I think its a difference if a lev50+ char like Fingeror with +3 or +4 attack
uses silence or a lev30 legend, so the spell is definitely not overpowered,
if it rocks for him...

Cigam.. You silenced me in Tharbad and it stayed on for about 10 seconds.. seriously i died cause of two things. 1. Sancing elmir and not myself. 2. Following a spamming elmir who spammed me to exhausted. And maybe the 4 BN's had something to do with it. But it wasnt in any way your silence that killed me =)

Hmm, I've been thinking about making a black breath shaman, AND a silence arch puke., but I've been playing to much stabber!!!!
Now I need to find another fun spell to use. How about ventriloquate? Hmm, no ventriloquate =(

Well, as I play to much stabber, I don't have the time to play other chars. Rl and stuff...

I tested sleep+silence+poison combination about 3 months ago. Does not work. Idea was to sleep opponent, cast arachnia and/or psylonia, wait 3-4 ticks, then silence and nuke dead. Arachnia took 5 mps per tick from a legend warrior, and didn't put him asleep during 5 ticks. So useless. Psylonia took ca 10 mana per tick I think, so again, useless. That was casted by lev 35 mage with poison maxed and +4 attack :P

Just as well, because if it did work it wouldn't exactly be a great step forward in exciting pk. :)

Silence is ok but it generally sucks unless maybe you are very high level like Fingeror. I tested it some months ago with a level 26 puke mage with +2 attack at the time - The duration was generally very shitty, but I was able to land some of em on a level 70+ Dwarf with very high wil. The duration seems to be very random, sometimes lasting only a few seconds, but sometimes lasting quite a while. Other nice sides to it though are that u can max it with only 11 practices, and it can prevent scrollwhores from reciting their 10 blues :)

Yes, just because silence works sometimes doesn't mean it's overpowered and should be downgraded! Jeez! Noone even died! I think it's nice to see people using these two spells which haven't been used much in the last couple of years+.
