Hehehe, seems that Luke praced sanc after last abr gate darkie slaughter. It looks like he doesn't want to die again in 6 sec with rocks and scrolls :P And ofcourse you need more than 6 to trap now :). Can be real surprise when some 7 pukes come instead of this poor 4 guys :(, (tickle Mochomurka). This 17 darkies and poison helped much this time vs 4 pukes :P

Like many of you, I have played MUME for many years and have YET to attempt
any closable trapping overkill greater than 3 on 2. I play solo about 50% of the time and the remainder with 2 or 3 folks that i know/trust. Such logs
do not shock or excite me anymore. Disgust and wonder at what kind of people
get off from doing this to other folks. Spare me the comments about 'no idea how many were near' like you were in every in any sort of danger. The only thing
remotely interesting about this log is that it follows an unknown post about
hugegrouppoisonusingtrapcunts that generated several comments about ideas that
have been posted both here and in MUME about options to change the overkill
environment. Game managers that see a complaint registered over and over again
by many of its players and not just a few, imho, should be obligated to address
the perceived problem. Is there, or has there been play-testing trialing different options such as those suggested?
Does this activity generate anything but rage and disgust for those who suffer the immediate loss? Think about this: when you die to an enemy that you at least
had a remote chance of beating or at least surviving, how did you feel? Compare
that to the feeling you had when the above has happened to you.

Well..I think traps like this one rocks!! Only wish we could have more of them...cause i just love spending 3hours making a staff EVERY fuckings time i enter a closable for a darkie. To tell you all the truth.. I think there is only one solution to the raising amout of traps lately, and i know the solution isnt going to please management..: Question : When did MUME become a trapmud?
Answer: Long time ago, but after they hid WP's, it has become ten times worse. Why? Well, as you cant see your wp's anymore, you dont realise, or dont care, or whatever, that in traps you will maximum get 1 WP... I think the simple solution is; Let wp's be visible for a while, and see if it makes this game more fun, and less of a trapmud.

In theory is MUME not supposed to be in part simulating a war between the darkies and the pukes? In war isn't just using vast numerical superiority a historically well used tactic, in the books the comment is made that the orcs main advantage is that they fight in large numbers.
So there is something to be said for massively large groups. Conversely it is a game and this tactic makes it less fun for everyone, because it sucks harsh to die like that, and what's the fun in getting a kill that took no talent or luck or anything? Basicaly there needs to be a balance found.
In the meantime it would be nice if players who enjoy MUME took some responsibility for it instead of asking the game to be changed and played fair, unfortunatly I guess that's just not how people operate RL .

Traps rock hard time cos i hardly get traped and when i do get traped i know its my own fault! What is so different spamming some1 dead on open area (who has shittyer link or very bad luck dies!) Just quit the fucking whining on traping and play da fucking game like u want to! I will joins Lukes traps allways and its fun! I think this log is funny. I like that part they prepared themself for battle - poisoning theirs weapons etc. Well I didnt read whole log yet, I will read it when i will have time at work :). Heh really nasty darkies :)

The problem is not that ppl trap and outnumber. One of the problems is that MUME doesn't simulate large combat's and traps well. In RL, an individual will see a large group much sooner than the large group will see the individual. In RL, an individual has plenty of time to size up the opposition and chose to run away before the first blow is swung. In RL, it takes alot of time for 6 opponents to surround and attack an individual. In RL, being able to "get away" depends on how fast you run, not on how quick your link is. In RL, groups split up and spread out when a chase begins. In RL, you're more likely to have a capable leader who will know when not to go into that cave. In RL, when you walk into a room, you are the closest person to the exit. In RL, one person enters a room at a time. I won't bother continuing, although I could. Not all these have simple solutions. Some simple solutions I suggested a year and a half ago are still posted, so I figure my ideas are still filling up the queue.

MUME is obviously not about RL. The most obvious trap-related impossibility is that 50 orcs could not hold a door shut when 1 elf is trying to open it. I've seen NSL and other instalinkers open/flee from a trap of like 15 darkies...why? Just their link and client. I've said it once and I'll say it again, if you really want to have a cool game, make all the doors have a small time-delay like some of them do now. Then, when 50 orcs are spamming it shut and 1 els is spamming it open, if it shuts at all, it'll never open again. If it doesn't shut in time and elf flees out, so be it, it was a quick little elf. Much better than having an elf get by innumerable players spamming door shut because of superior link.
