When there's 6+ rangers in room its fucking impossible to sneak thru. Rangers
are just making the game even more booring, or why not make limits like 2 rangers
on one player is MAX, or make rangers less powerfull, or even remove 90% of them...

Best thing is to remove 90% of rangers and replace em
by some lowlevel "men""dwarf""elven" patrols who run around
like the ones near noc. Easier to avoid but still posing some
kind of thread.

The annoying thing is that hardons are only a slight annoyance for hugegroups... they really don't make much of a difference. For solo players, though, they're devastating. Isn't this balance in west defense shifted the wrong way?

I think it makes sense that a single orc should be able to slip around and pick off a few travelers on the road without an army of hardons mobilizing after him/her. A group of orcs, on the other hand, are more obvious and WOULD attract the attention of a defense military force. Scouts can hide, but it doesn't do much good. Soon ten rangers show up and spamsearch.

It might be feasible to make ranger numbers dynamic, have the game take note of the total number of darkies in the 'safe' areas and spawn rangers in numbers great enough to get the job done (however you define that). This would take a lot of coding, debugging, and tweaking to get right but in the long run would maybe be worth it. But would also make huge raids almost impossible as far larger and more frequent groups of rangers would probably be coded to spawn in response to them. Be careful of what you ask, you might get it. Rangers themselves are a good example of that.

Play darkie, log on ainur check how many pukes are on. 70% + of pukes are w of bwb, in 99% safe areas and some of u ppl defend fornost area pukes :P they're safe enough as they are from solo ppl, even too safe, we see lvl26 ppl who don't know anything e of neni simply because it's 100% safe to play w of neni because of rangers, so why learn anything else?

I find the idea of manipulating ranger groups amusing, to say the least, when it comes to my USA modem link. Unless I'm in a wide-open area where I can spam out of a flee, I have 0% chance of escaping them. They are the ultimate in action hitting, action tracking, and spam searching. I'd take an NSL group encounter over rangers any day (though I admit, the difference for me is like going from 0% chance to 10% chance). :)
