What you all are forgetting though, a Meta has the right to go ANYWHERE he damn well pleases, with the risks that come along with them. Another thing, if a Meta is provoked or attacked he has the right to defend himself, and if worse comes to worse kill the attacker. It would be wrong if he was standing slag hitting orcs that come out, but instead he was exping at Goblin Shaman area.

Isnt the rule that Metas and Istaris can hunt darkies W of Neni since they are then tresspassing on the good lands. But E of Neni they can only defend themselves.. But this is kinda vague.. what is defend one self? can i fight as long as he doesnt flee? can i follow 1 room or 3 rooms? I think we could use a rules update on this.

U call exping up a lowbi half-elf pking, i didnt hear narrates and we were on ouer way to dunland when some bns hit me and Growen (the half-elf) he had to flee too so he was lost and i kept coming back to ostin cos i wanted find him and get him safe, i didnt attack any1, only fleed on awful trying to find my little friend! Some god even asked me if i was pking at the same time and he/she saw that i was not so shut up Wryak! And get facts!!!!

About the only cheat a maia can do is check who's on both sides the same time, and listen to narrates, a cheat labbies have been using since the dawn of mume and still uses, a cheat everyone does easily with icq etc, so if you're worried about vassago cheating, you can relax and feel SAFE now.

Traveling east with legends to hunt them down in their lairs is not. The job of the Istar is not to seek his/her own personal fame or profit, but to be a source of help and knowledge for the inexperienced.
Seeing as how Vassago was Solo, he was only gathering experience to share with the young minds. There is nothing wrong with trying to get herblores/equipment to share with the little wons that hide out west.

Well, the way the rules are currently written, I think metas east of Nen-i should not stick around to fight with darkies. South of Bree... eh, who the fuck knows. What I do know is that I spent 3 hours today dicking around with some clueless fucking lowlife newbie idjets, while instead I could have been exping Vassago-style. I know I ran by some softskin today I would have loved to whacka. OH!!! Then when some lvl 16 asked for help TBAD cause he was stuck in sewers and I was in GH, I (wasting my time, yet again) went to help, and of course a BN shows up. I had to pray to ask if I could help him from sewers and it took way too long to get an answer, because the rules are SHIT! These rules need to be updated NOW! Gimme my immortal now and save me the trouble you shady-rule writing brown eye plunderers!

As I see it, the whole point of the istari quest is to pay your penance to the game by helping new players adjust and develop to the mud. This has the affect of showing that the istari is interested in the development and growth of the mud by helping newbies develop by imparting knowledge and the little tricks of the mud. In the grander scheme, this allows the game to grow. Vassago's actions were volative of the spirit if not the letter of the rule and he should be demoted accordingly.

Clearly this individual should -not- be in the misties.His earlier comments regarding punishment ('demote me to level 1 i dont care') show a complete disregard for the spirit in which this mud is meant to be played in.My opinion,find yourself another place,or play mume as it is intended to be played.

Vassago is just the right kind of guy to get away with cheating. If you're going to play Mume, get used to it. Most anybody who could take any action against Vassago won't do it because they are too busy cheating themselves and somebody up there must like him. That's just the fundamental problem with a mud (or any other game) where the people who run it can make up rules and/or enforce rules for their own benefit. Imagine how a football game would play out if the referees all played for one side. How many violations are going to be called on Manwe's mortals (if has any, which I don't know one way or the other). NONE. If any of the "big boys" want to cheat they cheat. They let their friend cheat. The let the guy sitting across from them in the lab cheat because that's sombody they have to look in the face. The laws of basic human nature -- greed, prejudice, self-interest --- all come to the fore. Mume's actually been better than a lot of muds. I've played a couple decent ones that just folded outright because of blatant abuse and people just gave up. Mume gods are becoming a lot less discrete about it, but who care? It's just a game, play around it or take up solitaire.

IMO, the reason you don't see more punishments is that the mume staff tries very hard to be 100% sure first before punishing. The long-term cheaters know this, and have min/maxxed their ability to stay in the grey areas of the rules. That's why most demotions you see involve actions that can be spyed (action tracking, where the person carries on an uninterrupted tell conversation during tracking) or logged actions (crossrace equipment trading and such). But some things, like the ICQ and lab crossrace info passing Rogon mentioned above, are just about impossible to prove. You can strongly suspect, but you can't prove. In this case, I'd say Vassago crossed the line, I feel it's fairly obvious he went where he did because he was trolling for pk action. His giggly 'catch me if you can!' attitude about it doesn't make him look better, either. As to whether he broke the letter of the rule, I don't know, but he definitely broke the spirit of it.

I had much bad luck as a meta and darkies...my newbie groups were ripped to shreads, I was hunted down for my fine bear pelt, etc. etc. Its unfortunate as meta not to be able to attack first sometimes, because just when you think the darkie would leave you alone, they come in force to butcher and eat your meat. I hope I tasted good to some of you. But my poor newbie trains...tragic derailment.

I luv da meta meat. It is warm and snuggly and lip-smackin' good. Kestrel wuz kinda stringy, but we liked him okay cause i had some packets of ketchup leftover from when we wuz livin in the garbage can outside the inn at bree. I don't think we would like Vassago meat cause even maggots got standards. But maybe vultures could like him cause they are disgusting like Vassago. Bestest of all would be Elmo meat, but that's another story altogether. Anyway, thanx for the eats.

Bah, what's wrong about xping in misties? I exped Valir from lvl 21 to 26 in Eregion/abr/warrens/noc areas and noone said anything... aw, well, i didn't kill any *enemies* either tho... *shrug*
