There's nothing at all wrong with the flee system as evidenced by this log. How much should flee work? You got away several times and didn't get far enough is all. It will be a good thing if flee becomes more an escape tool and less the offensive weapon it has been (i.e., using casting/flee). The way it was before was ridiculous.

those flee attempts are so slow that they totally blow: with 20 dex i stil get freaking hittied badly with 150 defence cuz this just sux...*slow*. Else of system is ok, nuff said

You could have lived Sharmak. Don't spam directions after fleeing. After finally fleeing 5 times BACK into room after spamming N, why not type S and let the seconds go by before walking back. They all were SPAMMING hit orc and they would have toned it down some after moving s for a bit. True, the flee system might need some work, but overall I think it's good (especially for me since I don't even use a client and haven't resorted to saying 'oh, I forgot to turn my auto-flee action off!').

people who say that the flee rounds are too slow definitely have a point.
I can't believe that even the badlinked had *THAT* big lags between. All you can do now is lean back and watch yourself die. I havent tested my low encumbrance, 20 dex, superb attack thief yet, though. They should in all fairness decrease the base length of the attack round. And huge fastlinked groups are almost impossible to survive.

Seems most people havent figured that slow linked gonna suffer alot - you flee -im gonna be at the room you fleed before you even can type a dir = R.i.p because new flee stops you from fleeing again. It do stop spamfleeing super linked people to but it also makes people not wana go solo - which is see as a big downside (just as approach did).

Uhm, for ppl whining about ppl with european links... I am european, and played a year with 300ms link on average. That not good compared to what i now have. Back then only way to flee group of opponents (the fastlinked/spammy types, Norsu, Elestir et al.) was to spam flee a bit and spam away. Flee giving you 4 random rooms was confusing both to me and opponents. Now if i flee, and spam dirs (for example w/n) i am too slow if i spam wrong dir in the wrong room (Alas, you cannot go that way!, shortly followed by 1-4.*Orc* pounds/approaches extremely hard :). New flee screws both good and bad links, it just prevents ppl from soloing. Any1 know any decent mud which doesn't have a policy on removing all soloplay?
