She's 8 and shows no interest in MUME (as do neither of the other two...) But good luck converting, and congratulations - now, treat your wife delicately or there'll be more shattering going on, trust me :)

Many thanks to all of you! I'm at home right now (Wife and baby at hospital). I'm not foolish enough to claim I'm retiring (I've only done that once before, and it lasted less than a week *Hug Gothmog*). However, I'm not foolish enough to think my mume time will be what it has been lately. I start teaching again next week, and my free time will drop a bunch. Aschit will be on to mess around, but likely won't pk much. If I do pk, it will probably be with OM, since he is my only char that can do it in small doses (Hit and run!). Special thanks to Vaire, who spread the news to the darkies for me last night. I left out a few of the messy details (amazingly I didn't pass out, there was some nasty stuff in the experience). Mumma, only 20% of childbirths begin with the water breaking before labor starts :) (NOW I remember all the stuff from childbirth class, I sure didn't yesterday!) BTW, my wife is a LOT tougher than she looks, she did all this on just half a dose of IV drugs...no epidural, etc. (And to be honest, I bet she could have done it with no drugs with little problem). She only complained about the pain a few times. Also Nicole didn't complain much at all either, until the doctor and nurses started sticking stuff in her. She had her eyes open scoping out the terrain just as soon as she was out.

And if anyone calls me a whiner in the next few months, I'll be shocked. I can't imagine anything on Mume that could bring me down from this RL high by then :)

A few more tiny bits of information, then I have to find some food, take a shower (DAMN I need one!) and head back to the hospital. Her name is Nicole Joy Parks (Joy is a family name in my wife's family). She weighed 7 pounds 12 ounces (use mume converter for help :)), and was 19.5 inches long. She'll be typing before she is talking I bet!

Damn, pAschit told me (I lab with him RL) that babies are noisy little fucks that keep people awake all night. I guess I finally got some backup! The baby is luckier than I am though, at least SHE didn't get named after one of his mume chars like I did! Hmm, now, I think I saw one piece of furniture I haven't ruined yet, where did it go?

You need to change jobs! Kids and mume can be balanced nicely - get a job that allows you to waste hours playing mume! Then home, look after kids, teach them the finer details of football ( I did this last night, but, since England lost, it wasn't in too joyous a way), bedtime, read umpteen books to the young ones, listen to your 8 year old read Harry Potter, swear that the Hobbit is much better, get told you're out of date, tuck them in, talk to wife, pat stomach (hers) (getting bigger with new one), watch football highlights then.. yes! mume time. The life of a father, lad - it's not the mume that suffers, more the social time that isn't centred around people cooing over babies and telling them how tall they're geting (and worse, when the baby makes noise, the grandparents think they're trying to say something. You'd think old people would know better. Either that or it's saying 'get outta my face, bitch').

Anyway, the teaching's gotta go, man - get a proper job! ;) (That's a joke for those that take flippant comments too seriously)

Congratulations. My first is only 5 months old... there's fun times in your near future as well as in the years to come. There's nothing like looking into your child's eyes for the first time. Somehow, my son doesn't seem too interested in MUMEing either...

Thanks again for all the kind and warming thoughts :) If you like fake logs like this (obviously, I put more thought into the content then the accuracy of commands, etc.), there is an ancient one that tells the whole story of the War of the Rings. I'm sure it's still floating around somewhere, maybe at the beginning of the news boards. Maybe some Ainur could repost it? Regarding the baby, I find I have 'parent' eyes already. I think she's just the most beautiful little thing imaginable, and I generally think 50% of babies are pretty ugly until they get a bit older. Relim, I've had access all summer long this year, since this is the first year I didn't take a second job for the summer when not teaching. Other than about a week's worth of work at my school and the 3-4 hours each day my link is totally unplayable, I've had unlimited access. It's been nice, but it just isn't healthy to spend that much time on Mume year-round. Besides, I'm already starting to miss my little #$@#$@# err, kids, at school, and can't wait to see what knowledge I can bludgeon into their little heads this year :)

Good point laddo, well made. :) Enjoy the sprog, the first one is always the time of discovery and excitement. The second one, well, that's good for the first one too. The third one comes, they both have a new friend. By the time your fourth one is due (ie, now), you wonder when you're going to grow up and start to use contraception... ;)

The best thing about this log, is everyone is forgetting about there MUME indifferences, and telling a friend congratulations on something special that has happened to him. We forget about our quarrels and try to help our friends out. I mean thats what we really are is a bunch of friends. Sure we flame each other, but most are because we are upset. Only if this atmosphere could be carried out to the game, it would solve a lot of the problems and help the game progress a lot faster. I wish to send you my congratulations Oscarmeyer.
