Hide is another conceptually absurd skills coded into the game (like 2 foot tall hobbits backstabbing 9 foot trolls or using a bow while holding a big ass shield, etc). You have to assume somebody could hide behind the only rock in a room and never be found (we be morons) or that a skilled tracker would not be able to follow tracks to somebody hiding up a tree or such. It be dumb fer sure.

What is absurd is the mume tracking system. try doing tracking real life and let's see where it gets you (Except on soft ground adn without a hound dog).

More absurd is that mages are better trackers by far than anyone. Still more absurd is the spell 'store'. And more absurd is the spell earthquake (in fact ALL spells are absurd) - imagine going into a dense forest where you can't see beyond a few feet and you quake to reveal a hidden person in a 2*2 mile area!

Yet more absurd are scrolls. You want me to tell you of more absurd things in mume or are willing to shut up by now?

Touchy, touchy. Your name really isn't "Ugurz" so you might as well stop that argument right there. If you had 20 or so level 21+ chars (which I do), names wouldn't matter so much because I'm not really any of the those chars either. There's a lot of absurdities in Mume---I'm all for changing them. List whatever you can think of. (P.S. My thieves levels= 32, 30, 30, 22, 21 and some lesser lights).

Well, yes.. hide is powerful skill, especially in a forest room. It takes some skill and time to kill good scout. In some areas like forests with trolls or in Moria it is close to impossible if scout got some clue. But removing or changing hide at current moment is a big no-no. 1. moves of sneakers are already fuckuped enough. 2. zaugurz are walking xp without hide.

Thats simple, MUME xp/level/eq/wps system punishment for character death is hard, thus enforcing playstyle that guarantees high kill/death ratio. Playing in groups slaying solo opponents is a most effective way to achieve this ratio.

Why is it that anything that is effective for someone and makes it where your char cant kill should be removed? Should we all get naked slap each other to death in one big room? But i dont see point in this log really 3 to one aint really much of a over kill really considering sneakers are easier to kill if you keep them moving. And the fact that you can't play thinking that your not about to be trapped.

It is not only zaugurz who hide you know. And it is fucking overpowered, sure u can flush ppl out, going paranoid etcetc, but then they flee a cpl rooms and hide again... the time it all takes the scout regs full anyway...

Hunting someone with hide can be annoying..but so is hunting people with BOB, people with poison, spam fleeing smiters, and storeporters...so lets just remove every skill and sit online roleplaying all day! ;-)
