The bear is a big, brown, furry animal with very large claws and very sharp
teeth.  It doesn't resemble those cute little furry animals from toy shops
at all.
A brown bear is in an excellent condition.

You are right, normally bears ride hobbits...
(I think, someone gave the ticket to the bear - someone who wanted to prac her thief skills?

No, truth is dwavres ride bears (like in one AD&D game). So... Bear is in coach, mounted on hobbit, driven by dwarf. Quite like moving tower of dozens of dwarves.
