What ever happened to the aggressive guards at gate? Stopping the fight?
And they don't attack it seems. Have there been some major changes in Tharbad
which I have missed?

Try not stabbing in a room with tons of mobs, the more people in the room the less likely a stab will occur, also stab is very hard in cities.

heh, bad luck there Oscar. The north gate guards aren't agg, only the south gate guards are.

Several guards would decrease the effectiveness of stab i think

also your going hungry and thirsty doesn't help

Isoldir, since what n gate guards arent aggressive? Have always been.

Actually, n gate guards were changed about a year back. And yes, it is harder to stab there, but I solo guards there easily for keys with stab. I have killed MANY pukes at north gate, I just never had such a string of bad luck in a row before. :) BTW, not sure, but I think changes to n gate guards were made a bit before m7 rolled around. The gods changed tbad citizen system because lots of people were abusing it under new code (praying tbad on creation for cit, then making a mage char for example). Now you have to be a certain level (5 or so?) before you can becom a citizen. It is free for 'thief' class, but costly for others. I hope that made sense, if not maybe someone can explain it better. Anyway, guards at n gate were made non-agg so newbies that prayed there could leave the town without mobdying.

1) You need to be lev15+ to pray to Tbad
2) Citship costs nothing for evil-aligned whities only i think, not dependant
on their class. As i can't get it for free for my max-good aligned Candid.

Actually North gateguards are aggressive except for when they are at the North Gate ;) I.e. if they move from the north gate, they become aggressive. This means after someone gets wanted in Tharbad (or orcs/trolls enter) and they move about and then go back to Before the North Gate of Tharbad after the wanted person leaves (not Inside the North Gate where they load), and someone prays there, they get instahit, and if they are on bad they can instamobdie. FUN!
It's been bug reported several times (including once by me) but since nothing gets done about it, I might as well report it here. If it's been fixed without any announcement being made I apologise. I haven't played mortal for 9 weeks so
there is always that possibility.

Anyway, Bad luck OM. Were you carrying a lot of weight? Just a thought.

Silicon, N gate has NOT allways been friendly. The not aggressive guards has
only been around for a few years.
Oscarmeyer, i don't know what you expect, but do you really think you should be
able to succesfully stab each time you try? Especially when there is a large
groups of searching mobs present in the room? If so, your totaly spoiled.

No, I don't think I should stab successfully EVERY time (although it does upset me when I don't!). N gate guards don't search, it's just their numbers that do the damage. I stab there often to get keys for other darkies, and my problem is being sensed, not seen (very understandable). My frustration came from the huge bad luck of being SEEN on a stab on a sleeping puke (which has happened before). Just really bad luck (good luck for Shorty) as I stated in title of log.
