There are a lot of people that are hated for something they did a long time ago. Sometimes they did not even do anything really bad, but the story grew in telling by those who either got hurt somehow or hated them for another reason.

People should leave Snakr alone already. My guess is that some of the posters are just envious that he's a cool player and they're not, and so are picking at straws.

As to Gray, I think there was an attitude problem of his behalf. Whenever he posted anything, he was just inviting himself to be flamed due to his I-know-everything-better-than-you-and-thus-I-am-cooler-than-you attitude. He was also way too blatant about sunning that troll, as he always was about everything. Finally, he ended in the situation where he was just a free target to be shot at by the more annoying players, even though he has obviously done a lot of good to many.

I think your information about Gray was a bit off. Firstly, it wasn't just the 'I-ETC' thing. That had a lot of different aspects. But mainly I believe most people simply couldn't find a common language with him as he was a 'number-purist' (lets calculate everything and when my calcutations show that I'm in full power I will rock) while most people were somewhere in the between of being fun-purists and number-purists, but more often peopel tend to be on the fun-side.

Also, about the trolls and sun and Gray. I believe pRashnak has sunned a lot more trolls with his mortals than Gray. So it wasn't just sunning the troll. It was about the explanations he claimed why he sunned that troll. To prove his point. To make a troll suffer IRL. That's what got people pissed. Those who sunned trolls for RP reasons never got much flamed, just some slight dislike from people who liked to play trolls a lot.

Anyway, just my 2c.

Nah I don't think anyone cared _why_ he sunned the troll. It was just the way he put it that made him vulnerable. It is pretty obvious that, say, Rashnak, is going to ignore any abuse you throw at him and probably go and do something worse, but Gray made it all look personal and made himself look like a target.

And your first part is more or less what the previous post said.

Gray wasn't a 100% jerk like some other people are. That's what probably got him. Real jerks never quit.

Gray left mainly due to the fact that his merchant char had insane rent now that gold is rent-charged, which defeated the purpose of that char, and the METE guild, which seems to be dead now too. The thing with Gray was that he was -always- right(according to him), and he was/is one of those people who are adamant about looting foci = sunning trolls, and always ignored the fact that not just trolls loot staves, and that you don't lose your character after every death, but you do lose your equipment.

No comment on Rashnak though. some people don't care, he's one of them. However Snakr does care, which is obvious by the fact that he can't stay away. :P

Also Gray's now an Imp on Lost Realms. Can't remember what his job is there, I think he's in charge of building. It was fun to play my ghost for a week and kill him several times by summoning a dozen mobs and coming back from AFKing to find his corpse in the room. :)

I wonder if he'll be back now that rent has been reduced 33%?

I strongly disagree. Go read the log and those threads related to it, again and again if necessary. If we exclude those few who simply hated him (for the sake of hating him) then most people disliked his action (the sunning) and his defence to it, because of the reasons why he sunned Bubba. That was rather obvious. Although, I agree, the way he put it, was an important factor too, then the reasons behind the whole thing affected it like pouring oil into fire.

I think it was along the lines of him just happening to know where to find people while a labbie was in the area playing on the other side, and snakr went after everyone but him. I'm sure namo's 1st or 2nd post gives their exact reason. It wasn't a random punishmet though, but imo, he should be randomly demoted to level 1 if they can't/won't ban him for his already numerous crimes.
