Whatever he's up to, just general attention grabbing or actually trying to annoy us, it has to stop.

Ok for ONE thread to be spammed with such nonsense, but posting in over 70 threads just "first comment"? That's clearly out of line.

We want this forum readable too.
Andróg 2004-11-09 13:58:01
Mh... was this just warning or did he get banned too! ? :)
Mandor 2004-11-09 14:03:31
He wasn't banned, I warned him and removed all the posts.

I won't have banned someone if this continues, merely mute for a while. Ban if someone keeps doing it from other accounts or unknown.

W00t remove the posts and banning when unknown FFS? u r ruining mume.net
Unknown2004-11-09 18:45:32
I read a logsite for another MUD that has the following policy: no swearing, or your posts will be removed without any discussion or possibility of appeal. As far as I can see, this has been working great, even though they periodically remove posts I would have liked to read.

Unfortunately, it is not easy to make a clear policy like this, but if you manage, you could probably enforce it...

IMHO, Mandor did the right thing: warn a poster who's being an annoyance, possibly remove posts that are duplicate and/or have no content whatsoever, but do not ban the poster unless he is being a major disruption, which Boofhead doesn't seem to be.

Whhhaaaaaaatttt! What a nice suprise to wake up to!

"Whatever he's up to, just general attention grabbing or actually trying to annoy us, it has to stop."

Firstly, I doubt anyone would have noticed. I made a few comments in some old logs. Mandor would only have noticed as a site admin.

"We want this forum readable too."

All forums are readable, I doubt a single comment on a log amounts to making it unreadable. But I think that's irrelevant to this particular case.

Androg, this wouldn't have happened if I paid you the $10!

"do not ban the poster unless he is being a major disruption, which Boofhead doesn't seem to be."

Well, a warning is suitable, I'm happy with that. I'll keep it in mind for future reference. Banning would be going too far.

It would be mindful to create a policy outlining a posting code of conduct...

:)
Mandor 2004-11-09 22:50:34
Many people here sort all logs according to
"Sort logs by: last comment, latest at the top."
meaning that we had 7 pages of old logs up at the top, hiding all newer discussions with your "first comment"
Mandor 2004-11-09 22:58:46
I see banning as the last tool I have. Only for those refusing to understand warnings or those only here to destroy for the rest of us.

A policy for how you may post, well, do as you wish, just dont step on other people too much.

Same rules as in any decent society. If you wouldn't say it face to face to the person, perhaps you shouldn't do it online either?

Im not averse to complaints, thoughts or discussions. I won't remove heated discussions merely for being heated. I'll probably not involve myself, Im not a yelling kind, but I understand others are.

So, the point is that I dont have a policy. Be excellent to each other!
Andróg 2004-11-09 23:22:55
"Androg, this wouldn't have happened if I paid you the $10!"

Well, I told ya!! Your mistake you didn't listen to me! :)

btw, it was £10 OFR FUSKC SKAE!! Dollars, even US, are worthless nowadays (because of a certain president..).

To the woot-unknown: I'd rather have those 'I l337 d00d' you suXX0rs' people banned than the worrrthless boofie here... (who probably will one day pay that money! ;))
Boofhead 2004-11-09 23:23:26
Ack!!!! I didn't know there was a sort by last comment option. Had I been aware I wouldn't have been so much of a teen. I thought they would be 'hidden' away at the back somewhere.

I'm not sure whether the be excellent philosophy has been followed recently in regards to Snakr... :D
Boofhead 2004-11-09 23:28:02
Worthless! :(

I have absolutely no money. Not fun having an empty wallet. I get paid today thank godness.
KnowItAllDude2004-11-09 23:30:27
As I got nothing relavent to add, I'd just like to mention that I will keep this post as short as possible. Thank you for your attention. Good bye.
Andróg 2004-11-09 23:47:52
Well, then you obviously know what to do with that money! ;) You already have it or do I need to send you my bank-accounts number, Again?
Boofhead 2004-11-10 00:59:49
You got paypal?

I use paypal for my ebay purchases :)
Unknown2004-11-10 07:55:58
Instead of spamming, we could say he was "actively discussing"?
Boofhead 2004-11-10 10:13:45
That would be great, Unknown!
Andróg 2004-11-10 10:23:54
Exactly! Good point Unknown! Calling it spam sounds almost like... Internet-Forum-Racist-Discrimination!!! :)

PS. No, I don't have paypal, you know I live in this uncivilized corner of the world where that thing does not work...

PPS. So uncivilized in fact that Tallinn was in the top5 'Most wifi covered' cities in the world list last year!! (along with New York and Tokyo and such. :))
Boofhead 2004-11-10 22:36:17
Nice.

Sydney has quite a lot of wifi spots. Especially near food places so business people can still do work stuff while having lunch.
Andróg 2004-11-10 22:53:47
But can you beat this:

In Estonia 95% of all wifi-coverage is also FREE for users. (That is, if excluding "for personal use in private house", of course)

*flex*

I've even heard of plans where Tallinn is planning to put up one big antenna which would cover the whole city (or at least it's central areas.)
Honeysweetlips2004-11-11 00:30:17
I don't want to be too critical, but it is very rude to be bragging so much about all the wifi you have and your big antenna. Don't you realize that non-wifi privileged people are going to be crushed? It is just cruel. What's next, are you going to start making fun of Snakr because he has a small antenna? Just stop it before it gets out of hand!! (The bragging, not the antenna. Snakr aint letting go of that anytime soon.)
Andróg 2004-11-11 00:49:44
I tried reading your comment but every time I got lost somewhere... kind of... lacked any conclusive point which I could agree/disagree/argue, just a 'round bubble talk' as they call it.
Boofhead 2004-11-11 02:18:35
.....free!!!! Drool.....

1 hour - $13.20
2 hours - $25.00 (save $1.40)
3 hours - $35.00 (save $4.60)
4 hours - $45.00 (save $7.80)
5 hours - $55.00 (save $11.00)
10 hours - $99.00 (save $33.00)

That's what I would have to pay.... far too much :(
Britney 2004-11-11 06:44:54
Pretty low prices for quality Interner whore
Andróg 2004-11-11 19:19:35
If those are low then I don't know what you'd call the prices in Estonia... subzero?

Those are insane prices!! I wouldn't go anywhere near the wifi antenna with such prices..
Boofhead 2004-11-11 23:25:31
Exchange rate Aussie dollars to Euro...

$AU 1 = EUR 0.592897
