How do you know when you've played too much MUME? Lately I've found myself:

-starting every IM message with "say"

-referring to minutes as "ticks" in RL (and i hate that word)

And, last but not least: Having text dreams.

This is starting to bother me (except for the text dreams, which are actually quite cool). Has this happened to anyone else?

All my characters have the alias "a => say". And I constantly begin irc and icq conversations with an a prefixing each line.

I'm saying 'nod' to people out loud. Ah, minutes are sometimes ticks, yepp.

I've played MUME for some 3.5 years now... and I still get why people need the urge to spell out the whole "say" every time. or even "sa". I mean ' works just the same way and is only one character to spell, what's the point behind using 'say' at all when you got ' ??!

I start lines in IM with say all the time to!

I do the "say" thing also and everytime someones doing something repeatedly, i think of it as "spam"

The word spam predates MUME by many years.

I sometimes type whois XXX into Google :(

I went to another MUd, forgetting that there, backstab bash and spells were instant, and prompted got rocked and thought the person was cheating. "{

Does this mean any mume is too much mume?

My text dreams are weird, i'm both in the game and outside on the keyboard at the same time.

Once was chased west along the gh road (32 bit True colour and lots of nice rendering on trees and water :P) by *fearsome orc* and then mume ignored all my commands.
Orc bashed with a huge sword which was odd cos when i say *feasome orc* thats all it was, big letters in the sky :P
It turned out ok because a keyboard appeared in front of me an i typed 'pray help!' and my mother teleported me out into normal dream space.

Wow. That's almost as weird as some of my dreams...

I have had quite a few mume dreams.

Whilst waiting for the other person to type in IM I sometimes type sc or l for look - it's done subconsciously.

Ah, yes, typing 'sc' on irc and icq is common.

I've had dreams that could be MUMe-related, but never in text-form, that's just kinda weird.

i use 'say' on AIM...i also do actions :p like *gig* *smirk* *poke* e.t.c....but i doubt i'll ever had dreams!

Will ever had a dream... the construction of that sentence is already suspicious enough to... ;)

It's cool because in my dreams, whenever i see *an Orc*, I don't die... immediatly.

I wish it were so with me too... only time I've seen a MUME-dream about myself is... I saw how I get fled into Brolg as poor noride dwarf I am, get overkilled by bizillion darkies and my shining looted. :/

In one of my dreams, I was in necro (which is weird because I've only been there once, don't know it too well), and something like 30 *dreadful orcs* and *a troll* came in, but then (dream) MUME crashed. Funny thing is, when it crashed, I woke up... maybe I need a therapist...

Yeah, I kept starting each IM with "say" by accident, and my (now ex) gf kept asking me "are u ok?" Heh.

I get both black-and-white text and full-colour MUME dreams.

In text, I've dreamed of getting killed linkless, of becoming warlord, of sundying my troll, of Manwe finally deleting gods that shouldn't be gods (hurray), of Manwe deleting my characters just for fun.

My first colour MUME dream that I remember was of me trying to hide from the sun as a troll. The burning yellow sunlight would penetrate through cracks in the walls, through foliage even in the most dense forests, crawl in through doorways if the door hasn't been carefully closed, so I had to crouch in a corner away from the door. When I woke up, I realised that I forgot to draw the shutters, so sunlight was streaming on my bed.

The most recent colour MUME dream I remember was about me meeting Manwe and finding him to be a decent guy. I woke up just as I thought he was beginning to understand and maybe agree with what I was saying. Damn!

I had colour dreams of Moria and a beautiful colour dream of sailing West. I could post these here if anyone would like to read about them, but they would probably not fit into this post due to the size limitations. Let me know if you are bored and would like to read about those.

FOOLS! Everyone uses ' instead of sa or say! (It looks like a typo in any messenger so people won't think you're a moron!). I don't know if it's just me but I tend to spam [NUM_DIV] and [NUM_MUL] in Messenger? Maybe it's cost that's my keys for action huntz! But I duno =[

I sometimes dream of being a sucessful pker, but then I wake up to reality.

I often use 'say' in other chat progs. and spam 'sc' also...

i cant stop playing mume so much i play it almost all day... and almost everytime I die i sauron or i retire them.. and start a new char i think i have created the most chars in mume....

I doubt that. Wasn't there once some moron who created more than 100 new accounts to spam global channels with nonsense at the same time?

Just had another text dream tonight, this time about my new elf (currently only lvl 7) sailing West and becomeing an Istar.

Pallin: Try having normal dreams like where you are a giant hotdogmobile driving through a dark tunnel over and over again. I could help you with something like that. This elf sailing West crap is really scaring me. Are you currently in any kind of institution?

I just had a text dream that I was a hobbit and there were like 20 people in Bag End for a muave party...

Someone on work asked me how big our zone was, to not set off the alarm while working at night. I was on the brink of answering "Zones are 10 rooms wide"...

Since I am playing more lately I am starting to get MUME dreams again.

I just had one in which Velvet and a group of mid-high casters ended up being swallowed by Willow. We were going to kill the Willow soul, but as dreams go, there were big problems :) Instead of there being just one room where the soul lives, there was a whole interconnected living room with couches and a bunch of old people like grandparents. Nice people really, but I did not want to hang out with them any longer than I had to :) Well I knew there was only two ways to get out of willow: Kill soul or mobdie. OK so since I was buffer I was trying to get the mages to stand behind me to back me up when I hit the Soul. The damn player mages kept walking in and out of the room everytime I tried to tell them what to do. No matter what I did , some mage would always walk out the room just before I was going to hit willow. It was unbelievably frustrating!
Eventually though we finally did manage to kill Willow's Soul. Then I saw one of the mages pick up the Blacksword!..........
