ok........ i have made like 1000 lowbie chars between level 1-21
and i always mob rip at almost lev 22 and when i try to re-level i die.... after my first death i continue to die.... I have tested all combinations i can think of but still die.... I need help with making a char that doesnt die so often and xps good......
i have played for 5-6 months and i consider quitting seriosly cause i havent got a single legend

Figure out wtf you are always doing that causes you to mobdie at lev 21 and stop doing this.

Do you usually have your wimpy set at 50 hps or so? Are you in habit of charging Beorn or Bree as orc or NOC as elf or Balrog as pretty much anything? Do you go around quaking bashing mobs or mobs in one-exit rooms? Do you play when drunk or at 4 a.m.? Do you have a habit of going down from Durin's way in Moria? Do you exp in rooms that autolock on regen?

Most importantly: once you've mobdied, try not to go back until you're fully cured and sure you can recover your eq without mobdying again, or better yet, get someone you trust to recover your eq!

I found that it also helps to rent after you died (pk or mob). I am pretty sure it cuts down the number of your deaths. (No, the group that just killed you twice is usually not going to miraculously get weaker and let you slaughter them the third time you charge.)

Well, my first legend was a slashing warrior with high dex (Surt). He was not quick to xp solo, but really hard to mob. Teamed up with cleric or mage and a pounder or smiter for damage, xping was smooth and easy.
Stabbers are easy to level too, if you keep an eye on your moves (until you got travelling lore). Greatest danger to scouts on white side are BNs and other darkies hanging around in Tharbad to kill midlevels going to prac there.

I know bears dont need eq and only mine has is FGc and a belt with pans knives and skin. I only have that much gold cause i get it off the pks me and my friend get, its just nice knowing you have it hmmm yep yep.

Sepha, I hope you put every other creation point into wil, or you're going to join the ranks of bears who eat a bash with 2 shamans in the room, and never recover.


Getting gold as a bear was fun before equipment changes. you could kill an orc, loot their metalset and sell it for 40-50 gold at ingrove. :)


Also, if you mod alot arund herolevel, do what I did on my dwarf, xp at anduin vale and eregion till hero, then you can get from lvl 21-27 insanely fast around bree/fnost and w of bwb, plus, you most likely wont need any more gold or eq, so you can make some lowbies really happy by unloading your excess spoils on them.

Oh incidentally, thread owner... If you don't have area knowledge, LEARN. Or you will stay a newbie forever, and it will have nothing to do with levels of your chars. The second most important thing is area knowledge (the first is a client that makes area knowledge unnecessary).

I am not talking about Moria. Not everybody knows Moria well. But you should know LB and LB fortress and a lot of other common landmarks that are aboveground in mostly open areas.

Use other people's maps if that's what it takes, read other people's logs, follow somebody for a bit, go invis/sancted/with a stored teleport (or two), break every door if that's what it takes for you, but learn them.

Sepha how the hell do you track with that char? Or are you planning on just sitting about at noc?

play max con warrior, set wimpy 250. that should take care of it.

Max Con, Max Wil dwarf warrior w/ max endurance and parry, and using a engraved broadsword should take much of the trouble out of your travels. Of course, don't forget to max slashing, as well.

Sure, slow and boring as heck, but it's hard to mob unless you get trapped someplace.
