I like the caster very much,but my stat chosen is suck.I want to play an orkish shaman,BN is kinda difficult to me as i am not familiar with the map very well.So anyone could gimme some advise on the stats please.And tips on the pracs and weapons are very much appreciated.

I think this is good for a newbie shaman, it's very generic and you can adjust stats/pracs later if you think something else is better:

Str 13 Int 15 Wis 16 Dex 12 Con 12 Wil 14 Per 12

These give tracking ability and "good" spells (as far as shamans go).

As a shaman you will never have enough pracs, so don't get much anything from warrior/thief. Practice general skills like you would on any char (maybe max track with the above stats). These spells are a "must have": Lightning Bolt, Armour, Shield, Cure Serious, Breath of Briskness, Sense Life, Blindness, Harm, Break Door.

Dark broadsword is a good weapon for defence, orkish warriors are the best for damage.

You learn the map really quick as a BN, btw! We're the only race fierce enough to be shoved into the world anywhere the Dark Lord chooses! (ok ok...and we have our own baby blankets to take with us too.)

That's a decent set of stats, but I would actually take slightly more con as orkish shaman and slightly less of something else, given how con is really cheap as orkish shaman, and defense sucks and puke spells hurt. But maybe that's just me.

Au contraire! Do you know everything it does? It's one of the most useful things you can get for 2-3 pracs :)

Darkness spell can be handy as well.

IMHO the stats you adjusted are all more or less fine and it is really a matter of taste. I'd take 13 or more strength, though, if I wanted to be a slasher. (Personally, I prefer tougher and higher strength chars and would go for smth with 14+ strength, but again that's just me.)

You cant cast it as a non-casting warrior with min mentals anyway, and I really wouldnt rely on it to prevent backstab.

Well i dont know, but its low level spell, and costs 5-10 mana

It gives not...sense life gives...night vision gives you only....guess what...

I mean sense life improves your senses (seeing,hearing,smelling) thus improving your chance to avoid backstab (like when you praccing awareness), night vision gives the same effect as 95% awareness w/o improving of senses...thus only night vision :D

What I meant was, does the spell 'sense life' give you the same night vision you get from 95% awareness?

I was told previously in this thread it had the same effects as practicing awareness, and night vision is an effect of the awareness skill.

Practising awareness gives you maily better senses...that night vision is bonus only...
